4.0I am basing this review on the price paid and in that respect the photo on Hotels.com is flattering to say the least. The room was fine but the rest of the place was really tatty. It is very tired and certainly substantially over priced. Of all the hotels we have stayed in this was by far the most disappointing. Hotels.com please revise your photo

Somewhat disappointing
2.0The ladies who served breakfast were absolutely fantastic, super friendly and efficient. Unfortunately we were horrified by the appalling service on arrival, after an extremely long drive we were met by a grumpy member of staff who closed the bar 45 minutes earlier than advertised . This was a a trip we were most looking forward to, after visiting several times before, we found the hotel run down, poorly maintained and lacking in cleanliness in several areas.

6.0The location was absolutely beautiful and we loved the hiking trails around the property. Unfortunately, the food was not good and there were very little options for a vegetarian. The sautéed mushrooms were limp and greasy. The carpets in the main house were dirty and had holes in them. The floor in the granary cottage made your feet dirty after a shower and we found a snack wrapper from a previous guest under the coffee table in the living room area of our cottage leading us to question the housekeeping standards. We had to kill thirteen spiders when we arrived and seven the next day. I k ow it’s the country, but proper dusting and some mint oil would go a long way in terms of pest abatement and management.
