A very strange experience. Beautiful building and rooms with a fantastic view although one of our rooms was just above the kitchen and smelled strongly of eggs in the morning and fish in the afternoons. The staff were a real mixed bag. Certain of the staff were very friendly and helpful but others were very rude. In particular one member of staff (the very tall man who was often around reception) was aggressive towards my mother when she sought to have the aforementioned room with smells changed. He initially said that they would be changed the following day but seemingly forgot about it and then said that the room he was going to move them into was filled so my mother and sister had to wait another day to move to a new room. Throughout all of these exchanges his manner was dismissive. On our final day we returned from a day trip to Dougga (where it was 48 degrees) to find that there were no towels in our room. When I went to reception to ask for some towels I was informed by the same staff member that there were no more towels in the hotel and to ‘trust him’. I explained that this was obviously unacceptable in a 5 star hotel at which he still insisted that the hotel had no more towels. At this point I insisted he come into our room so that I could explain that in fact we had not been given any towels at all at which point he went and pulled some towels out of the dryer which were still slightly damp. I probably still wouldn’t have left a review with all of this but in the transfer the hotel organised for us to Djerba someone from reception called us several times and aggressively yelled at us, accusing us of stealing towels (the same towels that had not been provided the day before). It was a very disappointing end to our stay.
