We stayed at DD Hut on Koh Tao, and it was fascinating to experience such a distinctive atmosphere. Usually, we lean toward minimalism, but vacations are a great time to broaden our impressions. The bungalows follow a playful nautical theme (the resort is cascading, just like Heritage), with turquoise-and-white lighthouse-style buildings, ropes, and a ship's wheel over the entrance reading "Welcome Aboard." Cute touches like decorative turtles scattered around the garden add real charm. The reception is shared with Heritage, so we were greeted by staff we already knew and loved, that was nice. The room itself was full of character: dark wood furniture, gold panels with traditional Thai motifs above the bed, and a colorful hand-painted butterfly on the ceiling. The terrace had a cozy daybed sofa that became our favorite spot for evening movie nights, with a view of the path below and lush tree crowns across the way, where we could watch squirrels and birds. A lovely touch was the music playing from the creative workshop near reception, put on by a very sweet girl; it gave the whole property a relaxed, warm feel. And at checkout, manager Pat gave us some thoughtful gifts, a touching gesture that left us with only warm memories. Thank you, DD Hut!

The hotel is located very close to Sairee Beach and is within easy walking distance. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the rooms are clean. However, I booked a triple room, and it felt very outdated. The room facilities are also quite old. The main thing I disliked was the toilet layout; the urinal/bowl is directly in front of the toilet seat, which was unexpected and did not look nice.

The pool villa had a lovely cool pool to swim in, villa was clean and bright

− Not much vibe in the communal areas, pool and restaurant areas very quiet. The breakfast was not good, we didn’t bother eating there

The location is perfect, with incredibly strong AC and a great pool. The attached restaurant has lovely food and provides live music. We were thoroughly happy with our stay and would definitely return and recommend.

− The room did have noise from the street and quite poor wifi but aside from that everything was perfect.
