Cheap for this time of year and well-placed, but still not especially good value
3.0The hotel is in an excellent location if you plan on exploring Sussex and the staff were friendly
− The parking at the hotel borders on absurd, it's down a narrow alley between the hotel and the hardware shop next door and is simply not laid out suitably to accomodate modern cars. There are too many bays and there is not enough room to manouevre. We only have a Ford Focus and on multiple occasions one of us had to get out and guide the other in and out of a bay. It's a good thing it's free for guests. The room itself was just about satisfactory, although you could tell everything had been done on the cheap like the paint and the furnishings. Our television and hair dryer did not work but we didn't need them anyway. Bedding seemed fine at first but then during our last night my partner noticed multiple dark stains on the duvet which looked like they may have been blood! Very disappointing on that front. The shower was also borderline unusable - it's one of those old fashioned bath-tub tap attachments which is placed inconveniently and seemed to never come to any temperature besides cold or scalding hot. For about £50/night I expected better. This hotel desperately needs doing-up and modernising.

Ideally located hotel for events at Battle Abbey, with charm and character
6.0Very close to the Abbey where we were attending a wedding. Nice shops and cafes in the high street. Hotel itself was quirky with character and uneven floorboards, had an old charm to it that you don’t get in newer hotels.
− Staircase was a lovely feature but I can see it being a problem for older or less mobile people especially if like us, the room was at the top. Also the water pressure in the bathroom was low so made flushing the loo difficult.
Poor standard but good location

− Really poor standard. Tiles and water tap loose in bathroom. Booked two rooms in the same category but with very different standard.
