6.0I reserved and paid for the room a few weeks ahead of time but the manager tried to charge an additional $20 because their rates had gone up since I had booked the room. We had to push back on that silly logic and they caved and said nevermind. Also, the bathroom door was springloaded open and would not lstch shut and the shower wall had a hole in it. The microwave didnt work. Otherwise, it was about what we expected.

4.0The lady at the front desk was very rude kept raising her voice and telling me i was someone else saying my id didnt match the name on the reservation even though it was my name and was trying to give me rhe wrong reservation. Then she knocked on my door while i was changing and had no clothes on after i said just a minute just to tell me checkout is at 11am when it was only 9am. Also my bedding had cigarette burns all over it.

4.0poorly managed - front desk manager charged me $40 over the advertised price - this was not a deposit or any taxes. i called expedia and after fighting with the front desk for an hour i was told i would get a refund of $40 that never happened. expedia lied, motel six in newport news lied, i lost. no winners in this situation

10.0It is a Motel 6 - but it is newly renovated with hardwood floors, the bathroom and bathtub looked brand new, very clean and quiet. All in all it is a good place for a nights stay if you are in the area - we used it as a home base for some concerts at the Hampton Coliseum. Worked out well.
