4.0Definitely do not recommend. Not sure how this place gets high ratings. After an evening tour we arrived and beds were not prepared - we needed to call housekeeping, and they sent maintenance with sheets for us to do ourselves. Then we were awaken by housekeeping pounding on door at 8am, waking up kids. We’ve stayed at many historic hotels but this one was worst and would not recommend. Bathroom had sink counter over top of toilet so if you’re over 5’ 6” or 130 lbs you won’t fit! Expensive and not helpful with any recommendations or anything standard hotel usually is — either save money or spend more to stay elsewhere. This is definitely not recommended and won’t let anyone we know make mistake.

A must if travelling to Salem
10.0Lovely old building with lots of character, the dining facilities were excellent, nice location just across from Salem common close to the witch museum and just a short pleasant walk from the shops
− No coffee making facilities in the rooms, complimentary tea, coffee, and water was available in the foyer but not in the rooms

10.0We love the Hawthorne Hotel. We have stayed there numerous times and the staff is always polite and helpful, the rooms are always clean, and we never have any complaints about our stay. We like having the restaurants and bar in the lobby. It’s a great location for accessing everything in downtown Salem. We are going back again next year.
