We liked the location close to the beach.

− The room was small, obviously older, and had an odd latrine smell at night. We were only given 1 roll of TP. Communication was difficult due to no actual staff on-site. Check in was also a pain for the same reason. Everything has to be done online. There's a phone #, but getting someone to answer takes multiple calls. It's definitely not soundproof, either. The garden has been neglected. Lights over the outside tables were mostly dead. And so on.

− It needed to be a bit cleaner and the room had small roaches. But management was very good in helping to take care of the problem

Well, what can I tell you.. A picture tells a thousand words.. Place was not what we were expecting from seeing other reviews.. From the very first second we stepped into our unit it was horrible.. The smell of mold and mildew hit us as soon as we opened the door..They had strong air fresheners plugged in to mask the mold smell. The place hasn’t been updated in years.. the stove was filthy.. my wife had to wash out the coffee maker before we could use it.. We both woke up the first morning with headaches from the smell of the unit and my wife found the cause from black mold everywhere in the bathroom. We asked to switch rooms but was told nothing was available until the next night.. We finally switched rooms after another night and another headache. The second room was cleaner but now another 2 nights of not sleeping because the noise from the AC unit kept us up all night.. I can’t attach a video so can’t show how bad the AC was. I’ve read reviews like this before but thought people were over reacting but guess it can happen to anyone.. Especially staying the Desoto Inn.. I was talking with another couple staying in the unit next to ours and they were disgusted with the place themselves. I was also told I would receive compensation for the inconvenience of our unit but have waited over 3 months and haven’t hear a thing from the Desoto Inn.. really wasn’t expecting to!!! Just look at the pictures and you can make your own decision about staying at the Desoto Inn………..
