Great Stay With Lovely Hosts
10.0The hosts, Angie and Garth, are the best! We felt so welcomed and loved our stay. Angie is a fantastic cook, so don't miss out on afternoon tea, canapes and an amazing breakfast. Feeding and petting their sweet lil sheep was the cherry on top. Would highly recommend to anyone to stay here!

Arrived as Strangers, Left as Friends
10.0Angie and Garth’s hospitality is truly second to none. From the moment we arrived, their bright smiles, warm demeanor, and easy conversation made us feel instantly at home. But it wasn’t just a warm welcome — their genuine kindness and interest continued throughout our entire stay. Every conversation, whether about the lodge, life, or anything in between, felt like catching up with old friends. And there were plenty of opportunities to connect, each one a highlight of our visit. Their hospitality extended beyond conversation, too. From delightful afternoon canapés to incredible breakfasts, our hearts — and taste buds — were absolutely delighted. Speaking of food, Angie is a true master in the kitchen! Her recipes (some of which you can find on their website) are absolutely phenomenal — easily rivaling any restaurant. And when you add Garth’s coffee-making skills into the mix, you’ve got the perfect start to your day. The property itself is stunning. Our room was spacious, cozy, and thoughtfully appointed, and the lack of light pollution made the evenings perfect for stargazing. With plenty of beautiful open space to explore, Whaikapo Lodge felt like a peaceful sanctuary. We’re so grateful we stayed here — and we already can’t wait to return. Thank you, Angie and Garth, for your kindness, your care, and the incredible slice of heaven you’ve created at Whakaipo Lodge!
Peace and quiet, amazing hospitals just minutes from Lake Taupo.
10.0Incredible hospitality. Garth and Angie did EVERYTHING to make us feel comfy. Delicious breakfast, so quiet in a truly lovely setting. And a sheep visit as an added bonus.

7.0Hosts were welcoming, sociable and helpful. Private room with air con. Canapés and wine at 6pm was a nice addition at the end of the day.
