Traumhafter Ort. Sauber, geschmackvoll und schlicht eingerichtet. Passt toll an diesen Ort. Ruhe wunderbar. Selbstverpflegung möglich. Geht aber von Frühstück bis Abendessen alles in dem zauberhaften Café/Restaurant der Vermieter. Sehr freundliche Gastgeberin, die jede Frage beantwortet hat.

− Es gibt kein Nichtgefallen. Die Anfahrt ist bisschen abenteuerlich, aber machbar. Ausstattung der Küche: Basics sind vorhanden. Wer aufwändiger kochen will, bekommt sicher Unterstützung.

A very beautiful place, though there are a few issues

The house is beautifully located on the river in a former watermill. A beach with a children’s water park is within walking distance. The property is very clean, nicely furnished, and there is a small kitchen area for self-catering.

− Unfortunately, our stay didn’t quite come together, although the place has strong potential. First, after a long and tiring drive, we were unable to access our room for about 30 minutes. The host did not offer any explanation and simply asked us to sit and wait, which felt discourteous. The main issue, however, is the lack of air conditioning—important to know if you’re visiting in summer. The house heats up a lot, and the bedroom is on the second floor where warm air collects, making it very stuffy and, frankly, almost impossible to sleep. We had to take several showers during the night just to cool down. Open windows didn’t help and let mosquitoes in. In winter, the temperature might be fine. Finally, on the day of departure around 11 a.m., we couldn’t have a proper breakfast: the host said the kitchen was closed and could only offer sandwiches. After we asked, we agreed on scrambled eggs. Throughout, the communication felt rather cold and not very service-oriented. We have stayed at many hotels and guesthouses in Portugal, and this was the first time we encountered service and communication like this.

Aldeias do Pontido is a small village compound, near Fafe, in the middle of the mountains. The place itself is to dream of, near waterfalls, a lake and among the forest. If you want to experience full nature, you're in the right place. It's an old stone village, with narrow roads to get there, so be prepared, but a parking place was available. The house provided was spacious and enough for our needs. There are several trails alongside the river and waterfalls, that lead to a river beach, well worth the visit. The hosts were very welcome and always ready for any help. Historical places of interest are nearby, like Citânia de Briteiros (celtic ruins) and Guimarães, but so much more to visit. I imagine in the Summer is more busy, with the river beach, but for an April calm visit, was perfect.

− The furniture needs some repairs/replacements. The house has potential, but would be easy on the eye, with a support table near the sofa, brighter colors, a bigger TV screen and shelves on the shower section.
