A GREAT PLACE TO RELAX
8.0During our stay in Plymouth, my wife and I decided to treat ourselves to deep tissue massages at Mirbeau Inn and Spa. The Mirbeau Inn and Spa is absolutely stunning. The well-kept grounds and walking areas make it perfect for relaxation. You can spend an entire day at the spa and enjoy the beautiful grounds along with your treatment. There are also hot tubs, a relaxation room, a solarium, and lovely walking paths. The treatment rooms are gorgeous, complete with a gas fireplace. After our massages, we treated ourselves to dinner at The Bistro restaurant in the Inn.
Beautiful Resort
8.0Was impressed at check-in with a glass of wine and the kindness of the staff. Our room was spotless and comfortable. The spa was inviting and enjoyable. The grounds were interesting and similar to other locations but saw rabbits lingering in the bushes. Coffee offered early in the morning downstairs which we loved. Only issue was the TV was broken, bad remote and couldn't watch the finish of the US Open Golf event.
Good with issues
8.0Check in easy. Glass champagne offered. Room, basically the least expensive, was well appointed. Were given a small bottle of wine for anniversary. Nice touch. Bed very comfortable. Front desk staff genuine. Negatives: husband called that TV not working (finals of US Open were on) and employee came to check. Remote didn't work. Had to turn on from back of TV. TV stalled, was in and out, worked, didn't work. Not a spa priority. No real assistance in making adjustments, replacement etc. Locker rooms had no attendants, bathrobes 1 size/fits giants, outdoor hot tub temp should be decreased 5 degrees.
Not a fan at all
4.0This is my third time coming to the spa. And my last. While the massage itself was fine, almost nothing else was worth it. It started with a rude locker room attendant when I asked about the size of the robe. They are always sized for a 5’8” 140 lb man. And the slides as well. A tripping hazard. Asked about them and he said that’s all we have. I’m 6’ 220. Not enormous! Couldn’t figure out the lock. No help. Cabanas all reserved for the entire day even though empty the entire visit. Lunch has a 45 minute wait at 2 PM. Unless sat in the last two seats at the bar. Even though plenty of tables just no staff. Frankly grossly overpriced for what you get. Unless you’re a member so you know the drill or a wedding party dropping a bundle there are a lot of more welcoming environments in Plymouth and the surrounding area. Would have liked to enjoy and expensive afternoon a lot more than this.
A romantic place for a getaway
8.0My wife saw an article about Mirbeau in the Boston Globe, and so I booked a getaway weekend for us to celebrate her birthday. Here is my review: Positives= There are a lot of positives. For one, the place looks like a manor house in the French countryside with Monet prints everywhere, a pretty Monet bridge, and a helpful staff. Your room comes with 2 reusable metal water bottles, slippers, a robe, a gas fireplace (very important on a cold, snowy weekend!), a lavazza coffee machine, a soaking tub, and a very comfortable bed. We loved sitting in the two comfy spinning chairs by the fireplace. The shower products (and indeed, the shower) were great. The location is really nice with some restaurants (Mamma Mias, Blueberry Muffin) in walking distance. There is a lovely room off the lobby with two fireplaces where we enjoyed reading. And, of course, it's a spa. My wife got a facial with Jeanne which was excellent. There is a workout room which is small, but good. You also have a yoga studio, a steam room (although it's gender-segregated, so you can't steam with your wife), a relaxation room, a room for exercise classes, and a very nice outside hot tub. Negatives= The biggest negative is that no one really explained any of the amenities to us. We checked in and they printed out my wife's facial appointment, but that was it. There was no handout or even just an explanation of what was on site, and where it was. For example, to access the relaxation room and the outside hot tub, you have to go through the men or women's locker room, and exit a non-descript door with no sign indicating where it goes. We were doing recon, so each of us went out our locker room's door, and found one another, and all sorts of amenities. We explored to find out what was available, but I really feel like the hotel should do a better job of pointing out what's there and how to find it. Other than that, our other issues were really minor: they don't have tea in the lobby or in the room (coffee only). The only place that has tea is the relaxation room. Our room key deactivitated twice in our brief stay. And we were surprised that the room didn't have a minifridge in it. Luckily, it was cold enough to put our leftovers in our car, but it a fridge would have helped for sure. Overall, this is a very romantic place for a getaway. It's expensive, but worth the splurge. Recommended.
Serenity now
10.0We had an amazing weekend at Mirabeau - we gifted the trip as our Christmas present to each other and it may need to become a tradition. The vibe is all about comfort and relaxation, and carries through all aspects of the resort from the cozy fireplace in room to the serenity of the spa. Highly recommended for a couples weekend away, worth every penny. Book your spa services well in advance, demand is high!
