Disappointing overnight stay
4.0Disappointed in our overnight stay here. We had an afternoon cuppa in the bar - both the scone and pastry we ordered tasted stale, as if they had been there since the day before. The bar itself is a bit soul-less. And no teaspoons even though we asked for one .... Our room was nice and clean with nice enough views over the golf course but proved to be noisy as it overlooked the roof of the wedding venue - we could hear the "thump" of the music until about 2 a.m. Breakfast was very, very poor - very little choice in terms of cereals/muesli etc; hot breakfast choices sitting for a long time so that they were dried out and not nice to eat. Again croissants/pastries tasted like they were either out of a packet or had been baked the day before. Only sliced "shop" bread available, no freshly baked breads. And again ..... no teaspoons ....?? The pool area is "tired" and I felt could do with a good clean to freshen it up. This standard is not good enough for a hotel that promotes itself as a luxury resort. I doubt we'll be back.
Shocking disregard for safety - DO NOT use the elevator!
2.0I am currently staying at the Knightsbrook Hotel and feel compelled to write this immediately to warn other guests: do not use the elevator. I just got stuck in the lift for about 5 minutes. We had to hit the emergency alarm and bang on the doors for help until someone finally managed to open it from the outside. While getting trapped was scary enough, the reaction from the front desk was absolutely shocking. When I went to reception to report the broken elevator, there was zero sense of urgency. The receptionist casually mentioned he had heard the alarm and just "rang down to the leisure centre to see if they could check." He didn't ask if I was okay, didn't ask if I was a guest, and didn't even take my room number. Worse still, I stood there and watched other people get into the exact same broken elevator. I explicitly told the receptionist he needed to stop guests from using it, and he just let them walk right in. The lift is still running as I write this, and nobody has come to inspect it or put up an out-of-order sign. The complete lack of care for guest safety and the entirely uncaring attitude from the staff is unacceptable.
Mid week break.
10.0My wife and I liked everything. It was a two day mid week break for her birthday.
A bit disappointed
8.0A bit disappointed with our stay. Firstly the hotel is lovely although some parts looking a bit tired. Our room was large with a balcony which at first looked great. However the balcony had a rusted table and chairs which you could not sit on. This area could have been wonderful to sit outdoors wth a coffee looking at the fantastic view. I was amazed to see a huge empty cupboard which looked like a fridge had previously been there. Given the heat and my preference to buy and bring my own milk, we had nowhere to put it. We had one cup of tea and had to throw the rest away. I would expect a 4 star hotel to have fridges these days and have never stayed in one that hasn't got one. Our tea and coffee was not replenished for 2 days. I bought some tea to take home so we used some of them and shared a longlife milk, Yuk. I did telephone the next day, to inform we had no tea or milk and some was bought to our room, plus some extra biscuits which was nice. Breakfast was fine however, nothing was replenished there until we asked for it. No napkins anywhere to be found. On a positive note, the staff were all very lovely, helpful, cheery and respectful. Well done.
