Lovely staff service, excellent food and art, and proximity to many destinations in downtown Durham.
10.0I loved Chef Melanie’s new summer menu, the “brekky” biscuit, the French toast, the shakshuka, and the yogurt bowl! I was impressed with the local fruit used in the breakfasts. Tassia explained how it really is farm to table in this restaurant and also arranged something special for me. Sarah was extra diligent on my first morning. Tommy was a knowledgable and entertaining server. He explained the art in the restaurant. Guess which one is made out of Lego-you will be surprised! Matthew at the front desk was gracious and welcoming and in my chat with Devon at the front door we discussed the new professional women’s softball game which I attended. My room was spacious, with a 180 degree view of downtown. Especially for the thunderstorm! The art in the museum gallery was stunning, heartbreaking and surprising. New takes on sustainability, labor history, and which artists we choose to elevate. My room smelled fresh and the lighting artfully divided the room into zones. Housekeeping was responsive. Great use of a renovated bank building.
− Having a custom blend coffee is cool, but maybe add a darker roast option for visiting Seattle coffee nerds?

21C Museum Hotel was clean and convenient, and the art gallery was an added bonus.
8.0The location was good and convenient to restaurants and downtown. The room and facilities were very clean. Staff was friendly. The art gallery on site was a wonderful, unexpected feature that we really enjoyed visiting during our stay.
− Breakfast was not included. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom/shower.
A beautiful hotel with outstanding staff and valet service, but the disappointing breakfast service.
6.0I want to recognize that the hotel staff and valet service were exceptional. Every interaction I had with them was friendly, professional, and welcoming. They truly deserve recognition for the outstanding service they provided. The food was excellent.
− Unfortunately, my breakfast experience was extremely disappointing. I waited nearly an hour for my food while multiple parties who arrived after me were seated, served, and finished eating before my order was even taken. I was also left waiting over 30 minutes for a glass of water that was offered when I was seated. The restaurant was not busy, so the lack of attention was inexcusable. It's unfortunate that such poor service overshadowed an otherwise excellent stay.
