10.0If you want a glimpse into how vacationing on Martha's Vineyard was in the 1800s (but with most all our modern conveniences), the Pequot Hotel is an excellent choice. The buildings are modern adaptations of some of the beautiful, quaint and interesting gingerbread cottages that were erected in the mid-to-late 1800s. Don't expect rooms like you would find in most modern-day hotels. The rooms are small, but comfortable, clean, have attached private baths and plenty of power outlets to accommodate all one's devices. The shower had plenty of hot water and lots of pressure. I found the bed comfortable. But, my wife's bad back did not like the mattress. The staff was great! Everyone was friendly, helpful and did their best to see we had a pleasant stay. If you bring your car (not recommended in the Summer), you must be aware there is no off-street parking and limited street parking. That said, we were always able to find a spot near the hotel.

8.0Chloe checked us in. She was very nice. Although the hotel is clean, it could use updating. The AC unit was very loud and didn't provide adequate cooling. It kept us up all night. The room and shower stall were tight. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. It was the shoulder season so the hotel wasn't busy. My husband asked if we could charge our scooters in the outlet on the porch, Jill said no with an unpleasant attitude. Since no one was around on a Monday morning in October, it would've been a nice gesture. We're adults and would've been respectful about it. If people were sitting on the porch, we would understand. Not one person walked by or used the porch while we were on it. It's not a deal breaker but it would've been a kind thing to do and much appreciated. The hotel has a cute, cozy vibe. Overall, it was a good spot for the night.
