5.0The location right on the lake was brilliant. Great views. The room was spacious.
− Some of the staff were helpful and friendly (female) but others were surly and brusque (male). The easy chairs in the room were uncomfortable. The continental breakfast was very minimal. It's not promised so don't rely on it. We ended up leaving a night early after being told, yet again, that we couldn't use the gym. One of the main draws to this hotel for us was the advertised gym. However, there was a lot of repeated confusion between the staff about when it was open and when/if we were allowed to use it. The gym itself was overcrowded and difficult to use but there is a lot of good equipment in it. It also needed a good clean. The entrance to the gym is unwelcoming to say the least. It is across the road from the hotel on the ground floor of a private house. The pathway to it (alongside the abandoned, overgrown crazy golf course) was really untidy, overgrown in places and littered with rubbish and kids toys. The hotel is beautifully located right on the lakeside with a private beach but, other than that, there are better places to stay in the region.

Golden Lake is beautiful but the hotel is very basic.
7.0The lake was beautiful, sandy all the way from the beach, way into the lake. Shallow waters, ideal for young children. The hotel was conveniently located on highway 60 but you could not hear any traffic noise.
− The restaurant. Dinner was served only until 6:30 pm. The menu choices were very basic, hamburgers, fish and chips and salad. And the it was just from the freezer, nothing fresh. There was no breakfast served, we had to drive to Tim Hortons in the next town.
