Fabulous stay in a thoughtfully-curated space

What a fabulous stay- Furnas is a charming town close to many natural attractions. The hotel is steps away from a beautiful path along the river, and close to restaurants and areas of interest. The spa was fabulous, it reminded us of the zen architecture of hot spring resorts in Japan. The room's cleaning crew were amazing, we appreciated their attention to detail and the wind-down service where they would clean and refresh the room in the evening. The restaurant had great food at a good value. Finally, they were many details that made us feel so welcome: the complimentary bottle of sparkling wine upon our arrival, hats, umbrella and a tote bag at our disposal, etc.

− Nothing. The only suggestion we can think of is to offer a beach kit as hotels near beaches in Portugal often do (aka a beach umbrella)

Overall, the poor room view, inadequate bathroom maintenance, and refusal of the returning-guest discount made this feel

The location, the pool

− The hotel was acceptable overall, but in my opinion it did not meet the standard expected from a five-star property. Compared with my previous stay, the experience was noticeably less enjoyable. Our room faced a plain white wall, which was disappointing, and the bathroom was not properly maintained, with blackened grout and sealant. These details are particularly unacceptable in a hotel of this category. As a returning guest, I was also disappointed that the hotel refused to apply the advertised 15% welcome-back discount because I had booked through an agency. Although I understand that booking conditions may vary, this policy did not make me feel valued as a loyal guest. Overall, the hotel may deserve four stars, but based on this experience, it does not justify a five-star rating or price.

Super Lage, gutes Personal. Sehr warmer Innen- und Aussenpool. Super Massage. Gutes Frühstück. Sehr schöner Garten.

− Sehr feucht. Im Zimmer hatten wir immer um die 85% Luftfeuchtigkeit und es roch sehr feucht/schimmlig. Wir hatten es gemeldet. Geändert hatte sich aber nix. Am Morgen konnten wir nicht einmal das Telefon laden wegen der Feuchtigkeit. Kakerlaken im Zimmer. Alles eher alt. Viele Wasserschäden im Pool Bereich. Wenn man im Restaurant etwas bestellt, dauert es bis zu 45 Minuten, bis das Essen serviert wird.

L’accès privilégié à la piscine thermale et les équipements annexes (spa) est le vrai plus de cet hôtel, 24/24.

− Le service n’est absolument pas à la hauteur d’un 5 étoiles et du prix de la chambre, par exemple au restaurant au petit déjeuner comme au dîner soit 6 expériences négatives dans notre cas. D’autres hôtels 4 étoiles sur l’île offrent un service plus chaleureux et attentionné. Par ailleurs, les chambres sont plus petites que dans les visuels avec notamment des placards inexistants pour ranger ses vêtements sur plusieurs jours.

Absolutely exceptional. We travel a lot, and it’s rare for a hotel — especially its staff — to leave such a strong impression on us. Every single person was wonderfully kind, helpful, and professional in their role. There was no forced politeness or pasted-on smile. Once again, thank you, because you made our holiday truly fantastic. And we also congratulate the person who hired those people, because he/she clearly has a knack for finding such exceptional people who are excellent at their work. The hotel itself was excellent. It was very well equipped, beautifully and tastefully decorated, and the food and the A Taska restaurant were outstanding. The hotel has its own e-bikes, offers guided tours, and it’s extremely convenient that the thermal pools on-site are open 24/7. We would love to stay in such wonderful places more often.
