Friendly pub/ hotel with some room for improvement

7.0

The food in the pub was good and the staff were friendly. The breakfast was great. There was plenty of free parking.

Our room had no proper shower which was difficult to understand given the high price we paid at over £150 per night. The room was reasonably clean but there were some areas that needed more attention, eg, the skirting boards were stained and dusty, and the corners of the bathroom floors had not been cleaned properly. The staircase leading upto the rooms and the wooden walkway were grubby and needed power cleaning. The floor of the pub was black and sticky with dirt in some areas and needed a proper scrub with bleach. The walls and skirting boards of the pub were also very grimy and needed repainting. I thought the price of the food in the pub was too high for what was fairly basic fare, eg £20 for ham egg and chips.

Lovely breakfast

Bedroom blinds could have done with a dust! Shower fitting broken in the bathroom but plenty of hot water for a bath.

Really enjoyed our weekend. We will return. My friend’s dog enjoyed it too.

Breakfast was good. Location for Wells Next the sea was perfect.

It was very hot in the room and the lack of windows/aircon was a little uncomfortable. In cooler weather I assume they might have electric radiators as there was only a heated towel rail in the bathroom. The garden outside our room was great. We also liked having our little terrace. We will definitely return.

A good location but needs to improve the quality of its food and update the bathroom.

Comfy bed

Items on the breakfast menu were unavailable and some not of good quality. The bathroom was shabby and needs updating

A disappointment after a 7 hour drive.

A food location easy to find, the original Pub, The Red Lion was as expected for an old world pub, with lost of character. the Bed linen and towels in the rooms were pristine

The accomodation in the Garden rooms was below standard, the rooms were well overdue for refurbishment especially the bathrooms. The cleaning was poor, with the rooms still smelling of the previous doggy guests and the shower drain blocked with human and dog hair!! The outside area was dilapidated and in some areas dangerous such as the hand rail at the top a long flight of steps hanging off the wall. Insufficient designated parking areas for guests. The food although acceptable felt as though it was prepared with economy in mind.

It is very well placed for visiting the area. The pub is a lovely olde world one. The meal we had was superb.

The room was lovely but the bathroom is in need of an update. There was a bath but the shower was just attached to the taps not on the wall. There was no screen or curtain so the floor got very wet. Remove the bath and install a walk in shower. The balcony was great and we had a lovely view but there were cobwebs everywhere and the wood needed treating.
