1.0− We stayed at Secrets on the Lake last year and had a wonderful experience, which is exactly why we booked our wedding anniversary there again through Booking.com. Our booking was confirmed, but the following day I received a phone call from reception advising that they had no availability. They initially suggested that we move between different tree houses each day, which wasn't suitable for a wedding anniversary. Reception then offered us an alternative stay from Wednesday to Friday instead of Thursday to Saturday. I specifically asked them to send this offer by email before we changed our plans. After receiving the email, my wife and I rearranged our work schedules, organised our children's care with grandparents, and replied confirming that we accepted the new dates. As a gesture of goodwill, they also offered us a complimentary bottle of wine, which we appreciated. However, just three days later I received another phone call from reception telling me that those replacement dates had also been booked out to someone else. Our only options were to cancel or postpone to another time. By that stage we had already reorganised everything based on their offer. In the end, our wedding anniversary was completely ruined and we ended up staying at home. What disappointed me most wasn't the bottle of wine or the initial booking mistake—mistakes happen. It was the lack of organisation and the fact that they made the same mistake twice after asking us to change all of our plans. I never felt that anyone truly took ownership of the situation or understood how important this occasion was to us. We genuinely loved this place after our first visit, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Sadly, based on how this was handled, I can no longer recommend Secrets on the Lake.

5.0Not much really. The bed was comfortable.
− The Whistle Stop house is very old. We were completely isolated from the main accommodation with no view of the lake. The hot tub was up a path away from the house. We had a mouse who ate a banana on night one and an apple on night two. The owners were unconcerned. They said the place was heritage listed and the mouse protected. I was unhappy as this surely presented a health risk.
