The staff were very good and informative, the room was very nice and had great open gardens. The room was clean and comfortable and quite large. Great place to stop in Chinchilla.

Quiet a serious safety concern

I booked and paid for two rooms for my family while attending an annual junior rugby league carnival. We've stayed at this motel in the past and had no hesitation booking again. On first impression, the rooms appeared reasonably tidy. However, the cups were dirty with coffee drips on the outside, there were coffee splashes on the bench, and there was dirt and dead bugs around the fridge. Overall, the cleanliness wasn't to the standard we expected. Unfortunately, our stay was overshadowed by two major issues. My 9-year-old daughter found an exposed box cutter in the bathroom when she went to have a shower. Thankfully she noticed it before anyone was hurt and told us immediately. This is an extremely serious safety issue that should never happen in a room that has been prepared for new guests. The second issue was the complete lack of hot water. When I went to shower that evening, there was no hot water at all. I checked both rooms we had booked, and neither room had hot water. The following morning, after only one person had managed to shower, we tried again and there was still no hot water. As reception was closed when we checked out that morning, we left the box cutter with our room keys so staff would find it immediately and be made aware of the safety issue. Guest safety and basic amenities are fundamental expectations when staying at a motel. Finding an exposed box cutter in a bathroom used by children and having no hot water in either room for the duration of our stay turned what should have been a comfortable overnight stay into a very disappointing experience. The motel initially responded with an apology and advised the issues would be investigated. However, when I asked whether any compensation would be offered given the seriousness of the safety issue and the complete lack of hot water in both rooms, I received no further response. While I wasn't expecting anything unreasonable, I did expect some meaningful follow-up and accountability. Instead, I was left feeling that, beyond the initial apology, my concerns were no longer taken seriously. It is disappointing because we've stayed here previously while attending this carnival and had intended to continue doing so. Unfortunately, after this experience and the lack care, we will no longer be returning guests.
