Overnight stop between Canberra & Adelaide
10.0We chose this location as overnight stay on our drive from Canberra to Adelaide, for no other reason than it was about halfway and, on the Murray River, and right on the border of New South Wales and Victoria. The town of Tooleybuc is a very small country town, which would not normally get a second look, but the accommodation was certainly well above what I have experienced from small and larger country towns all over Australia in the past. Definitely punching above their category. The motel looks like it has been renovated recently, and they have done a fine job of it, the room is spacious, very comfortable bed, nice lounge. The bathroom is very modern styled and very practical laid out and best of all very clean. There was a continental and a hot breakfast available, but we saw his too late to place an order. Plenty of space to park your car outside the room, with space between adjacent cars. They had a very nice-looking pool area but as it only 7 degrees, we did not partake in it but looked inviting and a very nice area to sit and swim. Great location overlooking the Murray River and the superb Country Club Hotel, in literally next door with a great atmosphere and food. No trouble in recommending a stay here, well done.
Tooleybuc Motel - has it all
9.0Located in picturesque Tooleybuc, the Tooleybuc Motel was a welcome stay after a long drive. We were arriving late, and our self check in was seamless. We were contacted during the day to make the necessary check arrangements, and were grateful to find our heater had been thoughtfully turned on. The room was neat, clean and very comfortable. The motel is next to the Tooleybuc Hotel which serves exceptional and very reasonably priced meals. The Old Butchers Shop coffee shop is next door to the pub and opens early to set you up with excellent coffee and breakfast. Tuggers the River and walking paths right across the road too if you want to take in a walk and a bit of history. We've stayed here before, and definitely will stay again!
− Nothing we didn't like.
Very Nice Stay in a Small Country Town.
8.0We chose this location as overnight stay on our drive from Canberra to Adelaide, for no other reason than it was about halfway and, on the Murray River, and right on the border of New South Wales and Victoria. The town of Tooleybuc is a very small country town, which would not normally get a second look, but the accommodation was certainly well above what I have experienced from small and larger country towns all over Australia in the past. Definitely punching about their category. The motel looks like it has been renovated recently, and they have done a fine job of it, the room is spacious, very comfortable bed, nice lounge. Plenty of space to park your car outside the room, with space between adjacent cars. They had a very nice-looking pool area but as it only 7 degrees, we did not partake in it but looked inviting and a very nice area to sit and swim. We had a very nice dinner, literally next door at the Country Club Hotel, once again it has definably been renovated recently and they have a wall sized photo of the hotel exterior form the sixties (from the cars parked out the front) as reference. The dining area was very nice and the food was excellent, the tables even had white table clothes. The publican, Loz, took the time to talk to us and tell us about the history of the hotel. You could tell from the service and the quality of the food she has managed and work in much higher end establishments previously and was very passionate about the Hotel. All in all a very pleasant experience. The only disappointing thing was the lack of customers on the night we were there; it has been hard for small regional Hotel and businesses lately. Loz explained to us that were ever possible she will source local produce for the restaurant menu.
− The only drawback was the television reception was a bit hit and miss, could not connect the television to the internet, so streaming services were not available to log into. I am sure there was some technical problem but as we were overnight, I was not a big issue.
