Rediscovering Yogyakarta
10.0Five years. That's how long it had been since my last visit to Yogyakarta, a city rich in history, culture, and charm. This time, I had the pleasure of experiencing it all with my wife. Staying at Zest Hotel Yogyakarta made our weekend getaway truly special. Upon our arrival at Zest Hotel, we were welcomed by a vibrant and friendly atmosphere. The staff greeted us warmly, and the check-in process was quick and easy. Our room was cozy and modern, perfectly blending comfort and style. One of the best aspects of Zest Hotel Yogyakarta is its prime location. We parked our car in the hotel's secure parking area and decided to explore the city on foot. The hotel's proximity to Yogyakarta’s historic landmarks made this incredibly convenient. Our first stop was the iconic Malioboro Street. Just a short walk from the hotel, Malioboro is the heart and soul of Yogyakarta. We wandered hand-in-hand, soaking in the lively atmosphere filled with street vendors, local shops, and the enticing aroma of traditional Javanese cuisine. The energy of Malioboro was infectious, and we couldn’t resist indulging in some local snacks and souvenirs. From Malioboro, we headed to Vredeburg Fort, a fascinating historical site that offers a glimpse into Indonesia’s colonial past. The fort's museum houses an impressive collection of artifacts and exhibits, providing us with a deeper understanding of Yogyakarta’s rich history. No visit to Yogyakarta would be complete without exploring the majestic Kraton, the Sultan's palace. The imperial palace was a short walk from our hotel, and its grand architecture and intricate details left us in awe. We spent hours wandering through the palace grounds, marveling at the beauty and learning about the city's royal heritage. Next, we visited Tamansari, the historic urban area also known as the Water Castle. This former royal garden is a hidden gem, with its serene pools, charming underground tunnels, and beautiful pavilions. It was a peaceful escape from the city’s hustle and bustle, and we enjoyed every moment spent in this historic oasis. After a day of exploration, we turned our attention to the local culinary scene around the hotel. Yogyakarta is renowned for its delicious street food and traditional Javanese dishes. From savory gudeg to sweet bakpia, we delighted in the variety of flavors the city had to offer. The vibrant food stalls and quaint local eateries added an authentic touch to our culinary adventure. Our weekend at Zest Hotel Yogyakarta was nothing short of perfect. The hotel’s prime location, comfortable accommodations, and exceptional service made our stay truly special. It provided us with the ideal base to rediscover and explore the wonders of Yogyakarta. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning after years, Zest Hotel Yogyakarta offers a welcoming retreat that will make your stay in this historic city memorable. As we checked out and headed back to Jakarta, we left with hearts full of joy and memories that will last a lifetime. Yogyakarta, with its timeless charm and rich cultural heritage, had once again captured our hearts. And Zest Hotel Yogyakarta played a significant role in making our weekend getaway an unforgettable experience. But the adventure didn’t end there. As we set off for Jakarta, Google Maps guided us on an unexpected route through Magelang and Ambarawa. The pristine road wound down through the beautiful Central Java scenery, with lush green landscapes stretching out on either side. The joy of driving through this picturesque route was an unexpected delight. The winding roads, serene countryside, and breathtaking views made for a perfect conclusion to our trip. Sometimes, the journey can be just as rewarding as the destination. Our drive back to Jakarta was a reminder of the endless surprises and hidden gems that Indonesia has to offer. It was the perfect ending to a perfect weekend, leaving us eager for our next adventure.
The best damn hotel near malioboro
2.0Not... Stayed with my big family on imlek and I only had minuses in reviewing this hotel: 1. the parking lot is so small, and there is no elevator in the basement so you have to unload your luggage in front of the hotel which is very small area 2. this is the best (worst) part...dan terjadi lagi (lagu noah)..there are already many google review stating that the room management is poor/lacking due to some group visitor, which is on my floor become very noisy at night and some of them (like junior high schoo l student) just playing knocking on your door playing prank. Although the security has warned them but I think they dont listen. So the solution should be room management, the group visitor should be grouped in one floor not mixed with other visitor. 3. the breakfast was very plain well...the plus only just near malioboro. and next time surely I won't stay there again.

8.0The staff were amazing. The breakfast buffet and restaurant were good. The location was very central and walkable. The room was spacious. The only downside to this hotel was in the cleanliness of the bathroom and bedding. If the bathroom was given a really good scrubbing and the grout in the tiles a clean with a bit of bleach to get rid of all the mildew it would make such a difference. The white bedding is not cleaned with any kind of whitening detergent so unfortunately they look a bit grubby and stained. My sheets were quite stained when I arrived, however housekeeping happily replaced them when I asked . The new sheets were still a bit stained but not as bad as before. I would recommend this hotel based on their exceptional staff, it’s just unfortunate their attention to some areas of cleanliness is not as exceptional.
