Stay clear of this rip off hotel
4.0arrived at this hotel like Saturday night and inviting entrance everything black and tasteless, front desk staff not very friendly felt like it was an inconvenience wasn’t given any information on anything, apart from they were going to take $1400 of my credit card as a holding fee we were not informed of this before the holiday they said it would stay pending and not leave our account two days later. It has gone out of the account when I approached the staff he said this happens every few months there’s always a glitch with their system and unfortunately it just so happened when we were there and that it would be refunded this I find is disgusting to take $1400 out of someone’s bank account. They should not have happened. Refund arrived three days later but a difference in exchange rate so I was £11 down on my refund in English pounds. very unprofessional found the whole place to be tired dull dark uninviting to lifts to get to your room on two different levels and the death staff were rude and very unfriendly and never spoke unless you spoke first the door staff were the only friendly people. Good thing about this whole hotel five star I don’t even give you tea and coffee in your room. My advice is to stay clear of this hotel.
nice flatiron hotel
8.0Nice hotel and staff. Had to wait (extended) for elevator a handful of times. Some hallway noise. Room was clean. Only one bathroom sink. A/C was finicky - randomly shutting off and not cooling. Nice room, good shower pressure, had dark out shades, really nice towels, good bed. hopping bar, nice location. would stay again, if wanted that area in nyc.
Fantastic staff and stay
10.0Stayed at the New York Edition last week and had an incredible experience from start to finish. The food, drinks, and service were all outstanding. We especially enjoyed spending time at both the second-floor bar and the lobby bar, which had a great atmosphere and excellent cocktails. Our room was clean, comfortable, and offered an amazing view of the Flatiron Building. A special thank you to Vasili, the manager, who truly made our stay memorable. He was an exceptional host. Friendly, attentive, and responsive. Every request we had was handled quickly and professionally, and he consistently made us feel valued and well taken care of throughout our stay. Highly recommend the New York Edition and look forward to returning in the future.
Who is writing these 5 star reviews?
2.0Chintzy cheap Marriott furnishings, sad lobby, unhappy front desk staff, room service coffee that reeks of plastic, jack hammers and construction tape to greet you at the front door, $6k for a tiny suite 4 nights - that about sums it up
Just okay.
6.0Location was good. But everything else is just okay. The washroom was dirty when I got there. I asked them to clean it again but there was another misunderstanding about that. They also gave my food delivery to someone else. They send me replacement cookies to make up for it but it wasn’t that good. They also gave me credit to use for their establishment. Nothing spectacular. You’d be surprised if coming from other Edition hotels especially in Asia.
The New York Edition Hotel – A Mostly Memorable Stay
10.0The hotel itself was lovely, clean, and inviting. There is a warmth to the space that makes you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. The gentleman who checked me in was wonderful, and though I unfortunately didn't catch his name, I genuinely appreciated his warmth and attentiveness during what was a brief one-night stay. Room service was equally impressive — the woman who answered the phone was a delight, the food arrived quickly, and the overall experience was seamless. That same evening, a lovely member of the housekeeping team knocked to offer turndown service. I didn't need it, but she kindly left me a few extra bottles of water, which was a thoughtful touch I genuinely appreciated. The following morning, I visited the front desk to get change for a $20 bill. The male staff member handled it promptly, and I inadvertently left my room key behind. I walked only a short distance and spent roughly ten minutes standing at the bottom of the nearby staircase speaking with colleagues, well within eyesight of the desk. When I returned to retrieve the key, the same gentleman handed it back without a word. I'll be honest: that was a missed opportunity. A simple "Excuse me, you've left your key" would have gone a long way, and given how close I was, there was ample chance to do so. It's a small thing, but in a hotel of this caliber, those small gestures make a meaningful difference. Before checking out, I had breakfast at the Clocktower Restaurant and it was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere is dark and moody in the best possible way, and the photographs lining the walls feel like a genuine time capsule, a real character to the place that you don't find everywhere. The staff were fantastic throughout. Checkout was handled beautifully by a member of the front desk team, professional, warm, and efficient. She left a lasting and positive impression. Overall, this is a hotel with genuine character, excellent food, and staff who mostly deliver at the level you'd expect. A small lapse aside, I would return without hesitation.
