Huge disappointment, Arrived and was assigned a room in building 9 opened the door to smell of mould and damp , immediately went to guest services and complained, they switched our room to temporary one for the night , we didn’t un pack just took a shower had some dinner and wanted to go sleep after a long 2 flights .i was told we would moved the next day by noon but nobody contacted us I called twice to guest services and was told the room wasn’t ready !!! Finally got in the room around 3pm despite endless chasing , I found this service not great at all I was dealing Oscar on this matter , The rooms are not great need a major renovation they dark & still smelled damp , the beds are uncomfortable and the linens are worn out it’s not 5 star luxury at all, most nights I felt the linens to feel damp , we couldn’t dry swimwear for days in that room . Moving on to restaurants The non reservation??? The process is ridiculous you mostly have to wait 45mins to an hour to get a table we tried 6:30 - 7pm most days and still couldn’t get in to any restaurant immediately. I notice a few people in preferred club rooms getting ushered in before us when we were waiting patiently. French & Italian was excellent Seaside you need change your supplier for the steak I ordered rib eye medium it was so full of fat I couldn’t cut or eat it . The Asian restaurant was hit and miss . The coffee shop was excellent and the lady on night shift was just wonderful . The pool staff friendly helpful and shout out to Freddy at the bar he was superb. The hotel looks pleasing to eye the and the grounds are maintained, but the downside is beach and the seaweed and plastic loungers you get for room classification you choose , major let down the beach . Pools well another disaster my son had to visit the doctor on site he picked up a nasty ear infection , from the relaxing pool . Lastly the attraction of guests to this resort I experience fights outside our building 7 at midnight we had to call security, and the following day walked passed a young girl being wheeled in by security in a chair and being sick in the plantation area of block 7 , really classy !!! We did complain and was given a Bali bed for the day as good will gesture , and Hyatt members points , but the money I paid I was not impressed at all. I will not be returning ever again !!

What a fantastic hotel. Delicious food and really fun activities throughout the day. Thanks to Oscar, Melina, and Mario for the fun activities. The bike tour and the snorkel tour were fantastic; we saw huge sea turtles and stingrays.

The best resort I have been to!

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya is the nicest resort I have been to. The resort is gorgeous! The rooms are beautiful and each building has their own concierge that is happy to help in any way. Karen was our concierge, and she helped with everything from dinner reservations to blowing up our rafts, to room service. The food was amazing. The people working there made the whole experience even better. Our pool bartenders, Freddi and Bernardo, work so hard. They really take care of their guests. They knew us and what we liked after our first visit to the bar. Antony in activities was fun! He was very informative and helpful all while having blast doing his job. Carlos in activities was the absolute best! He stopped to talk to us and make sure everything was good and if we needed anything every time we saw him. He really listened to concerns from other visitors and took the time to help them. He taught me some Spanish while making it a fun conversation. He works hard and you can tell her really cares about the guests. Always some great activities going on day and evening. The people worked hard to clear the seaweed from the beach. Although there was a lot of seaweed, it was cleared everyday by mid morning. It will be hard for me to go to another resort after this one. This one is tough to beat.

The resort was beautiful and very well maintained. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The pools were fantastic and the poolside service was excellent with drinks, ice cream, tropical fruit and sunglasses cleaning services. The entertainment throughout the day was great. Alan, Sinia and Anthony all did an excellent job in adding to the experience and making everything engaging. The kayaking and wine tasting activities stood out as two of our favorites. Our concierge, Annie, did a great job of helping us making dinner reservations and ensuring we had everything we needed during our stay.

So much pool fun!!

All I can say is… WOW! 🤩🌴 Secrets Akumal completely exceeded every expectation I had. From the moment we arrived, the service was absolutely top-notch, and the food was some of the best I've ever had at an all-inclusive resort! A special shout-out to Bernardo at the Manatee Swim-Up Bar! 🍹 He took care of my friends and me over multiple days, and every single time he greeted us with a huge smile and brought such a fun, welcoming energy. He truly went above and beyond to make every guest feel like they were on the best vacation ever. Thank you to the entire Secrets Akumal team for making this such an unforgettable trip. I can't wait to come back!
