1.0The king sized beds, though they were hard and uncomfortable, , the kind man in the office.
− This was one of the most expensive places we stayed during our three-week road trip, making the experience even more disappointing. Over the course of our trip, we stayed at 10 different accommodations, including small-town hotels, Airbnbs, VRBOs, and other Booking.com properties. This was the only place where we experienced a problem serious enough to leave in the middle of the night. Our first night was fine. On the second day, after spending most of the day at Second Beach, we returned to our room and immediately noticed a strong odor that continued to get worse throughout the evening. It smelled like something had died and was decomposing. We left for dinner hoping it would improve, but when we returned, the smell was overwhelming and the room was no longer habitable. The employee at the front desk came to our room, confirmed the odor, and offered us a can of Febreze because there were no other rooms available. He contacted the owners and explained what he found, but they responded that they had not noticed any unusual odor when they had been there a few days earlier. With no alternative accommodations available, we had no choice but to pack up and drive more than three hours in the middle of the night with our two children. When I asked whether any type of refund was possible, I was told it was unlikely because it was so late in the evening. I also contacted the property through Booking.com and never received a response from either the property or Booking.com. While I understand that unexpected maintenance issues can happen, what is most disappointing is the complete lack of communication, follow-up, and accountability. We paid for a room we could not stay in and were left to solve the problem ourselves. For the price we paid, I expected much better. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend staying here based on our experience.
