A warm port in storm Amy!
8.0All of the staff during my stay were lovely! Even though the Inn - as well as much of the area - had to weather storm Amy, lost power and internet, and couldn't provide hot food. The service was still excellent. Everyone did a fantastic job working with the conditions given and promptly took care of guests as best they could. They provided a continental breakfast in the morning, candles the evening prior, and kept folks as happy as they could throughout. When power resumed, much of the food was unusable other than pizzas. However, my Bee Sting pizza was delicious. As was the beer. And...the deep fried Stickers was amazing!!
Overall Poor Experience
4.0If you have accessible issues, be very causal the property does not have a lift and all rooms and restaurants require the use of multiple stairs. Also, some stairs have 90 degree turns, therefore, making transversing stairs quite difficult. Overall lighting in stairwells also is poor. Transitions are poorly defined. Exits, including exit access, exit hardware and exit discharge areas DO NOT OPEN AND FLOW IN THE DIRECTION OF EGRESS. If you are from the US, please note this issue. Also, the facility, from the US standpoint is not ADA compliant. Bathrooms were difficult to maneuver. Slanted ceiling, no room for a suitcase stand (luggage rack), etc. Had to put a stool in the bathroom to balance toiletries. The water in the shower, when someone soles flushes a toilet goes from warm to scalding to freezing. Truly, the water temperature seems to have a mind of its own! The hourly staff members were wonderful! True gems! When asking reception questions including for some bottles of water, it appears we were asking for the moon! It seems they took their grumpy pills that day! Meals were so expensive. We ordered three orders of artisan bread-which ended up being six slices of bread for 15 pounds! YES-15 POUNDS!!! One morning we asked for two (each) eggs and were told we could only have one egg. One day granola-the next we were told there wasn’t any. One night we wanted pizza and were told that since the cook was alone, he was not making pizza that evening. The only choices were deep fried chips, deep fried breaded fish, deep fried breaded shrimp, deep fried breaded sausage (notice a trend?j as well as three kinds of deep fried candy bars (we didn’t partake).
Enjoyable stay in Glencoe
10.0We stayed here for two nights while in the area. The room was very comfortable and the staff were all excellent. The dining room staff were so good and the person looking after breakfast was so entertaining. Breakfast is included and includes a choice of three hot dishes and a few items from the continental breakfast area. They do serve dinner and the menu was good. We ate here both evenings and enjoyed it. There are many sitting areas on the main floor and a bar area.
One place you need to stay
10.0Lovely hotel staff great we enjoyed our stay here will be coming back here. Good location for walking fantastic views

6.0Staff were very friendly and engaging. The room was clean and comfortable. The shower was terrible, no pressure at all. The restaurant was nice, but the food was way overpriced.
PLEASE DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT IS SHOWN ON THE WEBSITE!!
4.0What a total sham! We actually had to ask if we had arrived at the correct hotel following our booking online for evening dinner. The website is totally inaccurate showing the dining room with ambient lighting, soft furnishings and white linen tablecloths. We were greeted with wooden pub tables, spotlights and Smooth radio playing complete with adverts. The hotel marketing group for the Inn are totally dishonest in their portrayal of this inn and we feel sorry for the front of house staff who have to bear the brunt of the complaints. The menu on line stated lobster and other dishes but these haven’t been available for a while so please do not expect what is advertised!
