Disappointing stay
2.0Had previously stayed at Dobbins, hence why we booked again. Unfortunately this visit shall be our last. We checked in, paid upfront with the unsmiling receptionist. Our room 23 was basic which we knew would be but the mattress had gone and we had the worst sleep, the bathroom floor was wet due to the radiator leaking. After breakfast we let the receptionist know and she said that we’d be moved but felt we were being awkward. However, got back in the evening and was given a key for room 17, this was the smallest room, couldn’t swing a cat in it, mattress was better but that was all, no pressure in the shower and water was freezing. Went to bed in the smallest double bed to be woken up by the sound of the rain hammering down on the skylight at 1am and struggled to get back to sleep. On a plus side the breakfast was good, nice and hot and the young girl serving was very nice. It is a noisy Hotel with people moving about in the night or maybe it could be Maude.
Family trip
10.0Very well managed old historical place. All staff very friendly from reception to pub staff. Rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast was delicious and scrumptious thanks to chef for delicious food.Must visit if you are in Carrickfergus.
Disappointing
6.0Fab deal on living social. £19 for two Sunday Roasts with tea or coffee. While the food and service was good the meal was smaller than previous visits and although it’s advertised as relaxing in front of an open fire you are stuck in a cold room at the back.
Lovely cosy pub with varied menu
10.0Our family had a great pub lunch and the service was excellent. Very kind and welcoming staff, couldn’t fault it, we will be back!
Charming little inn.
8.0Visited here for Halloween. It is a very authentic inn. Staff were friendly and the food was good! Portion sizes are very large - especially at breakfast! The only downside for us was that our bedroom did not feel warm despite some heating being on! This could have been due to the nature of the old building with thick walls. Also our bed was super-comfy!
Absolutely fantastic. A family run hotel where the welcome is warm and friendly
10.0We stayed overnight. Clean rooms with good facilities. Staff wonderful and helpful. Breakfast delicious. Bar good fun and very welcoming. Love the history of the place and the location by the castle and harbour (which has free parking).
