A very nice, modern hotel in Fort Mill

I decided to try out this hotel for a quick overnight getaway. It's in a retail development off exit 85, which is under heavy construction, so be aware. It's tucked in behind a shopping plaza and a Lowe's and not really visible from Highway 160. It's a newer, 6 story hotel with interior corridors. My room for this trip was 315, with two queen beds. Typically, I book king bed rooms when traveling by myself, but (according to online photos) king rooms have walk-in showers while queen rooms have combination tub units. The hotel has fairly modern furniture that's generally in good condition. The room was clean and comfortable. The nightstand design wasn't really to my liking - a bit too small, with a little pull-out shelf underneath, and since it's attached to the wall and not freestanding, there's no drawers or open storage underneath it. In-room lighting wasn't great either, with low wattage bulbs (even by hotel standards) and a small desk light that's short and would be completely blocked out with a laptop on the desk. There's no seating in the room aside from the desk chair (though king rooms do have an extra chair) Breakfast is a definite highlight of the hotel, with a wide variety of offerings including breakfast potatoes, and ham slices (which I much prefer over the more common sausage.) Staff service was friendly for my entire visit. The hotel has a fairly big outdoor pool and a nice patio area with fireplace and grill. The Hampton Inn & Suite Fort Mill is a clean, modern hotel with several resturants nearby. That modern vibe works against it in a few ways, in relation to the some of the lighting and furniture design decisions in the rooms. Regardless, it's a good choice if you're needing a hotel between Rock Hill and Charlotte, or as a base for Carowinds visits.

It was easy to access from the expressway

− Pool was closed when we arrived but later in the evening we saw people in it but it was too late for us to use. There wasn’t any type of paper..pen..or instructions on how to operate the tv

The only thing better than the property itself was the staff working there! 10/10 recommmed staying here!

Exceptionally clean. Bed was comfortable. Room was spacious. The staff went above and beyond to ensure a wonderful traveling experience - even leaving the pool open an hour later for my 11 yo son due to us arriving late because of terrible experiences with other hotels before getting to Hampton Inn. Breakfast was good. Felt safe. Just the perfect place to stay! Can’t say enough good things about it! Will stay here anytime we are in the area.

− Hallways were insanely hot. Our room wasn’t and that’s ultimately all that matters.
