A decent enough hotel
4.0We stayed at the Silverland for the chili cookoff, as we typically do anytime we go to to Virginia City events. Pros: Staff is mostly friendly Hotel/rooms are clean Free parking for guests (especially helpful when there's big events in town) Just two blocks from all the action Cons: They used to have an old Zenith tube TV until more recently. Now they've upgraded to very small flatscreens, it's kinda hard to see it from the bed. They always run out of water in the vending machines, every single time there's a local event. The walk to get to the action is very steep Tips: - There are guys in golf carts roaming around that will give you a ride up the steep hill if needed. We've been able to wave them down when we have my disabled mother-in-law with us. - You can park here without being a guest, they usually charge like $20 - Bring water & snacks, they will run out. There's a gas station a few blocks NW of the hotel that seems to stay stocked up even when the town is packed.
Extremely disappointed
4.0This was our3rd stay at Silverland Inn and we were extremely disappointed this time. We visit every year, but will find somewhere else to stay going forward. We reserved the room ONE YEAR AGO, for four days. and it appears we were stuck in the smallest double possible, charged in excess of $350/night, with NO COFFEE MAKER, NO MINI FRIDGE, NO CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST, a LAMP on a table where there was NO POWER PLUG, a TINY TV - more like a computer monitor, and a minute space for what they KNEW would be 4 adults. We had TWO hangers for FOUR adults, and had to request more. We had TWO towels four FOUR adults, and had to ask for more. Very disappointing, and we will not be back.

2.0The room reeked of strong cleaning smell so badly it was nauseating, I appreciate a clean room but the smell was so strong my clothing and luggage smelled from the cleaning agents they used in fact it gave me such a headache by the second night I couldn’t sleep. They no longer offered continental breakfast and the staff in the new bistro completely ignored my husband’s numerous requests for acknowledgment to purchase two cups of coffee. In fact the server poured himself a cup of coffee, looked at my husband and then turned and proceeded out of the restaurant and began chatting with the front desk employees. Drunken guests were partying in the common area until 3 am as well as yelling up and down the hallways. I have stayed here a few times and it was never like this. I believe they changed out some things in June and it was just not the same experience.
