Stay in a palace
10.0Luxury room and surroundings. Prior contacted required to arrange check in but all went smoothly. Wifi wasn't strong.
Mixed experience
4.0The place is not a hotel. It is a historical castlelike palace which the owners decided to rentout in part (3 rooms). There is no reception, no staff, no front desk. Only 1 room has air conditioning. There is no parking, you have to walk up to the pedestrian only plaza, there is no indication, no marking, no sign. There is no one to talk to. The two old custodians meet you at the door for 2 minutes when you ring an unmarked bell. The hot water takes 10 or 15 minutes to be ready, there is no elevator but 2 long ramps of stairs, it is dark and The key doesn't work well. The facility is ancient, literally, and as such is both attractive and unpleasant. It is very suggestive as a historical location, but one would want modern day amenities and comfort, not a trip back in time. As much as the place could 've been amazing, the reality of it forces me to give it a negative review. The owner should invest in modernizing the place.
Palazzo in Cerveteri
8.0This residence (so not a full service hotel) was in an amazing Palazzo. We were happy staying there for one night so that we could be close to the local Etruscan Necropolis. You cannot beat this residence for feeling like a Renaissance Italian aristocrat. I don't think it would have been great for more than one night or for anyone needing a lot of amenities but it was a great experience. To be more specific, we had a massive room and bathroom right off of the main (gargantuan) hall. We seemed to be the only people staying there (off season) so there wasn't a lot of socializing. We were offered breakfast but didn't stay to have it because we were on a tight schedule so I can't comment on the food. Not sure the people who ran the place were on site because they seemed to disappear once we checked it. Also - there isn't a plaque on the outside of the main door so it was hard to find. I also don't think the front doorbell worked. I was lucky to reach them on my cell phone. Also, the wifi didn't work. As I said, great for one night in an historic setting.
