Excellent relaxing stay in a very beautiful hotel. Fantastic staff and fantastic room, fantastic location
10.0Everything was superb
− Nothing
Comfortable centrally sited hotel in lovely town - dom't miss the museum.
9.0Modest rooms, but adequate for the price. View of brick wall, but who cares? Air conditioned bedrooms very welcome in heatwave.. Of course, no dedicated parking, but adequate and affordable (£10 for 3 days) parking a 5 minute walk.
− Dinner service on our one visit to the brasserie was exasperatingly slow.

Sharp metal item in food.
2.0My wife and I visited the Kings Head Hotel for a meal recently. Although it was quite busy, the staff were welcoming and quickly found us a table. Our food arrived promptly, and the starter was perfectly fine. Unfortunately, while eating my Chicken Caesar Salad, I discovered a thin black metal object in the food that I very nearly swallowed. When I bit into it, it broke into several smaller pieces. I managed to remove the largest piece from my mouth and immediately went to the restroom to try to rinse out any remaining fragments. The manager was initially very concerned and took the object to the kitchen to investigate where it might have come from. When he returned, he explained that they had been unable to determine how the object had ended up in the food. He took my contact details and said that he would get back to me with further information. After this incident, however, the atmosphere changed noticeably. No desserts were offered, and the staff seemed to avoid our table until I eventually asked for the bill. To their credit, they did remove the Caesar Salad from the bill. I decided to delay leaving a review, hoping that the hotel would contact me with an explanation. However, more than a month has now passed, and I have received neither an explanation nor any indication of what the object was or how it came to be in my meal. The lack of follow-up was disappointing. It left me with the impression that perhaps the staff suspected we were simply trying to get a free meal. Had that been the case, I doubt we would have been drinking water throughout rather than ordering a bottle of wine, and we certainly were not looking for compensation beyond a proper explanation of what had happened. Finding a piece of metal in food is a serious matter, and while mistakes can happen, I would have expected better communication and follow-up from the hotel after the incident.
