I’ve had the pleasure of working with Kelly Dean, Sales Manager at Element Basalt – Aspen, for the past two years in support of our group, The Snow League, and her professionalism and partnership have been exceptional. In our first year, we were still finding our footing as an organization, which resulted in frequent changes—often on a weekly basis. Throughout it all, Kelly remained consistently professional, highly responsive, and incredibly accommodating. When additional rooms were needed, she made the process seamless whenever availability allowed. She approached concessions thoughtfully and fairly, ensuring solutions aligned with the needs of both the group and the property. She was always communicative when challenges arose, which made a complex planning environment far more manageable. In our second year, we formalized our partnership with a contract. As is often the case in live event production, our staffing needs shifted, resulting in a reduction in room nights. We approached Kelly to explore options for adjusting the contract without incurring significant financial penalties. What happened next was something I have rarely, if ever, experienced in my career—she worked with us to effectively reset the agreement, allowing us to restructure based on our updated needs. The hotel adjusted terms in a thoughtful and fair way, modifying only one concession. That level of flexibility and partnership is extraordinary. Contracts are typically rigid by design, and it is exceedingly rare for a hotel to take such a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach. Kelly’s willingness to advocate for our group and find a path forward speaks volumes about both her professionalism and the values of the property.
