This property is too run down to be rented out, very unfair to paying guests.

Good value for the money.

We loved the history of this home. It was quirky-in a good way. We had many curious conversations amongst ourselves about how the shower works when you turn on the hot water tap of the sink…just us trying to figure out the physics of it. The location is super convenient to a small food store for picking up groceries or a morning coffee.

A bit better of a clean could’ve been done prior to new guests. There was dirt/grime that is more than “an older establishment”.

Great location but tired and dirty.

5.0

Super location close to amenities. Sofa bedroom to the side is bright and airy.

Quirky cottage it has not been well looked after. It is cluttered throughout with nicnacs on every surface which are just gathering dust and cobwebs.  The kitchen is a good size and light but one of the kitchen doors is hanging off, another peeling and it needs a deep clean. The freezer had not been emptied. The bathroom has a shower that is very hit and miss for hot water and the controls are tricky to master. You have to set as per the instructions and then leave it at least five minutes or so to start. The radiator is rusty with peeling paint. One of the tiles has a big crack in it. The bath surround sealant and floor are grubby. The lounge is small and cramped with unecessary furniture, one of the windows is cracked and the bush outside is so overgrown it's akin to sitting in a cave.  The rear outdoor area has broken chairs and rubbish dumped at the back of it and it's certainly not a place you would want to sit. The stairs to the bedrooms are very steep and extremely loud, creaking to the point where you can't go to the bathroom downstairs in the night without waking everyone up.  It would benefit from a deep clean, removing all the unnecessary clutter and some serious TLC.

Enjoyable

8.0

Its character - an old cottage with nooks and crannies. Very comfortable bed in main bedroom. Its location - right opposite the bus stop, and quiet, though in the centre of Ventnor. Ideal for walking. Pleasant communications with the host.

The front outside sitting area was very public; the back outside sitting area was rather ramshackle. The bathroom and kitchen - pleasant and functional enough - felt rather ‘tired’ (cracked paintwork, broken tiles, etc) but this is a fairly minor detail.
