good experience
10.0very good. Wow. I will introduce this place to my friends to enjoy.
Excellent stay with outstanding service in a stunning setting (9/10)
10.0We had a fantastic three-night stay at Banyan Tree Huangshan in January 2026 and would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting the region. The overall service level is very high, with staff consistently going the extra mile. One particularly memorable moment was when we ordered a ginger tea and, noticing that we looked a bit under the weather after being out in the snow, the staff instead prepared us a (local?) cold remedy (檸樂薑 / ling lok geung). It was completely unexpected and turned into a real highlight of our stay. These thoughtful, intuitive gestures truly set the service apart. The room (Xidi Villa) was outstanding: spacious, beautifully designed, clean, and very well serviced — including evening turn-down service. The wooden bathtub deserves special mention; it quickly became our favorite feature and was perfect after a day of exploring. The resort’s overall theme and atmosphere are truly exceptional. Pagodas, lanterns glowing at night, and traditional architecture create a magical setting. We were lucky enough to experience snowfall during our stay, which elevated the entire resort into something straight out of a painting — absolutely stunning, especially after dark. The location is ideal if you’re planning to visit nearby UNESCO World Heritage villages (Hongcun and Xidi). The hotel provides complimentary transportation (about 5 minutes) to Hongcun, which is well worth a visit. This makes the resort an excellent base for exploring the wider Huangshan region. Food quality was good from a Western perspective. While there is occasionally some guesswork regarding ingredients, this was more a general travel experience in China rather than a hotel-specific issue, especially as this was our first stay in the country. There were only a couple of minor points that could be improved. Payment at check-in was slightly confusing, as we had already paid online and were initially charged again. However, once we mentioned it, the issue was resolved within an hour, so it did not negatively affect our stay. Additionally, during our mid-January visit, the main resort building felt quite cool (around 15–18°C), possibly due to the snow. That said, our villa was warm upon arrival and the temperature was fully adjustable, so comfort in the room itself was never an issue. A special thank you goes to Felix from the staff, who was available at any time via WeChat and helped us with various requests throughout our stay — truly excellent support. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and left with very fond memories. If you’re visiting Hongcun or planning to explore the Huangshan area, this resort is an excellent choice and a place we would happily return to.
Mountain resort
10.0A resort near the UNESCO Hongcun village. Nice picturesque surroundings with mountains Nice check in. Room very nice with a balcony. You can tell it’s a Singapore chain, Channel News Asia is the first channel 😂 More Singapore touches when you see laksa broth at the breakfast restaurant Good medium sized gym Very good service throughout the hotel. GM Max also gave a friendly welcome 9/10
Don't go unless you want frustrating experience!
2.0The terrible service is damaging to the nice brand. Front desk was rude. The room was dated and lacked maintenance. Buggy service never came or came on time. Only the spa and restaurants probably lived up to the name of Banyan Tree. We stayed 2 nights and regret spending such money on this hotel.

8.0The place is nice but limited dining and facilities and inconsistent service
Tranquility
8.0Very nice hotel with friendly staff and big rooms. The pool area is quiet and heated and there is beautiful scenery from a lot of places in the hotel. The little area with goats and ducks are super cute and you can feed them. Lovely for kids. Restaurant is ok although not foreigner friendly as some would expect from a banyan tree resort. Go for Chinese.
