Our Trip to Suffolk
10.0We had a very pleasant stay with Maggie and Paddy at The Old Rectory. The accommodation was excellent as was the food at breakfast and dinner. A fine place to drive from to the outlying towns and villages.
Beautiful Place
10.0Beautiful place. Nice people. Highly recommend.
Beautiful Location
10.0Lovely location. Friendly, good breakfast. Near to Lavenham, which is well worth seeing. Quiet and peaceful.
A jewel in the Suffolk property crown.
10.0We were greeted with words 'Welcome to our home' by Maggie as we stepped out of our car. The Old Rectory is a beautiful house and spotlessly clean. Shortly after arriving we enjoyed tea and cake in the guest sitting room overlooking the terrace and garden. The bed was extremely comfortable with Egyptian cotton sheets as advertised. We slept soundly. The breakfast was tip top and cooked to order with freshly made coffee in a cafetiere. The Eggs Benedict was faultless and delicious. We were made to feel comfortable and very welcome as Paddy and Maggie encouraged us to relax over breakfast and talk to the other guests. We were the masters of our own time. The 3 days were a real tonic and it suited us being away from the madding crowd in the picturesque Suffolk countryside.
Stepping back in time.
10.0If you truly want to get away from it all this is the place for you. It’s not the easiest place to find and I recommend using your sat-nav, but it’s truly worth it and once you get your bearings it’s not so difficult. This is a beautiful family home in an idyllic setting. Peace and quiet abounds. It’s a great place to hear the sounds of nature. The lounge is comfortable and homely, the bedroom and bathroom equally so and spotless without feeling sterile. The bacon, sausages and eggs for breakfast are all grown by the hosts and the honey comes from their own hives. The hosts are warm, friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Whilst we were initially concerned that we were miles from anywhere we soon found our way about and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. If you want to experience a slower pace, to feel as though you’ve gone back to a more innocent time I recommend a stay at the Old Rectory.
