We loved our two and a half week stay in apartment 7. It was a ground floor apartment with a lovely well equipped kitchen nook in one section of a really comfy sitting room with an armchair that my elderly mum spent a lot of time in and now misses! The terrace gave seated outdoor space with enough greenery to stop you thinking that you are sitting next to the car park (which was relatively quiet with a designated space for each apartment and some visitor spaces). The main bedroom was really comfy with plenty of storage space. Despite the really hot heatwave during our stay, by dint of closing blinds and windows during the day and opening the windows in the evenings we managed to keep it comfortable. The heaters though at other times were easy to use, although a thermostat would have been useful to discover (it probably had one) on the heater in the main lounge, the room was warm in no time. The coolest room was the front bedroom, north facing with a window that looked out front into a very green space, during the heatwave this was wonderful for mum and the heater in there did have a thermostat and kept the room at an ideal temperature overnight on the coolest nights. The hardest thing to cope with was the bunk beds and trying to keep mum from bumping her head, she got so used to ducking that she's still doing it! The bathroom in number 7 has a good shower over the bath. The apartments were a very short walk down a snicket to the Anglican church and the main street which even mum managed. We had a lovely break and would definitely stay here again. The whole team were so helpful and friendly, making sure we lacked nothing. Thank you! We would love to stay again 😁❤️ Maybe we'll be back for the next music festival when it happens again in two years time. Sedbergh is definitely a welcoming community and a lovely location. We will get up Winder again at some point!

Charming apartments in lovely Sedbergh

9.0

Lovely cool apartment, adequately stocked, and they kindly provided a fan for the heatwave. The managers were very helpful and responsive. Apt 8 has a dishwasher but no washing machine, and when I enquired, they let me use the washing machine in an empty apartment 😃. Quiet area, view to the fells, swifts nesting and swooping around the patio. Good eateries within 5 min.. Charming, shady walk, largely along riverside paths, to Farfield Mill about 3-4 miles round trip. Fascinating old mill, quality art studios, great little cafe. Open 10.30am till about 4pm Weds to Sunday. Tourist office v helpful. Nice market Weds mornings. Note that Howgills Apartments request a £75 deposit over and above the Booking.com price to cover any breakages/ damage, which is returned a week after you leave ( minus any damages, obviously). Oh, and there is a wonderful music festival every 2 years in June (next in 2028)

The house rules are all very reasonable, but the signs could be written in a less harsh way. Not a big deal, but they seem out of place with the gentle ambiance of the place, and kindness of the staff. I can understand if some guests felt rather miffed by this. Perhaps the owners have had some bad experiences.
