The property was spacious….the lovely lounge and honesty bar was great to come back to and have a drink before bed. Dining area was lovely with a seating of 2 sofas to sit at and plan your day…a bright conservatory to use as well….is was nice to have different seating area’s…instead of being stuck in your bedroom. And Simon and Jonathan…well I cannot speak highly enough of them…nothing was too much trouble….they made you feel so welcome in to their home….i would definitely stay there when I visit the IOW again.

Really dissapointed

− Our stay at The Avenue was extremely disappointing and fell far below the standard we expected from the photos and reviews. Our first impression on entering the building was a strong musty smell throughout the property, along with dated and poorly maintained décor. The welcome from the owners was also uncomfortable, feeling more like an interview than a relaxed check-in, which made the arrival experience quite awkward. Once we entered our room, we immediately noticed that the condition did not match the impression given by the listing photos and reviews. The musty smell continued into the room, and we felt the need to check the cleanliness before settling in. Unfortunately, we found multiple issues, including what appeared to be stains on the bedding, marks on the mattress protector, dust on surfaces including the headboard and TV, a dirty shower curtain and shower head, and visible mould-like staining around the window area with signs of condensation and damp. The most concerning issue was the bed itself, where the mattress appeared to be supported by a sheet of wood/board because the bed frame was broken. This was not acceptable for accommodation we had paid for. Within around 30 minutes of arriving, we were left feeling uncomfortable and had to urgently search for alternative accommodation. We contacted other B&Bs before eventually contacting Booking.com, who assisted in arranging a refund from the property. Although the refund was agreed, the situation caused unnecessary stress, disrupted our holiday, and left us temporarily £345 out of pocket while waiting for the money to return. We would not recommend staying here unless significant improvements were made to the overall cleanliness.

We had such a wonderful time at The Avenue. From the moment we arrived, Simon and Jonathan made us feel incredibly welcome and looked after throughout our stay. They were informative about the area and whole island, which made exploring so much easier. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet, with everything we needed. Breakfast was amazing every morning, freshly prepared which set us up for the day. The Avenue is located in close proximity to shops and only ten minutes from the beach and the restaurants, with car parking available which made everything hassle free. A truly lovely place with genuine hospitality. We hope we’ll come back.
