Comfy warm and functional
6.0This is a throw back to lockdown. Book online, no reception or checkin all done by text and key lockbox. No good for disabled access. The room was comfy and warm, with the usual iron, hairdryer, tea coffee etc. new or newish . The bathroom was a little dated. No food / hotel restaurant is available, but a tescos express up the road and an Indian down the other way. I'd actually not bother with the Indian, not great.
Above and Beyond.
10.0The rooms were great and the location is excellent. In addition we left a valuable bracelet by mistake in the room. The item was handed in to lost property and the manager, Kieth very kindly posted it back to us. Fantastic!
Lovely budget hotel
8.0This is a really nice hotel. It is very handy for the centre of Lancaster, with the railway station only a brisk 5-minute walk away. Less than that to the castle and the staff are extremely friendly. The room was delightful, very clean, nicely appointed. Excellent lighting and with things you wouldn't necessarily expect to find, such as an ironing board and iron, as well as a hair dryer. A lovely bath room was appreciated and the place was pleasantly warm with easily adjusted heating. I have deducted a mark because there is a noisy road below the room and this went on into the night, even though I am a deep sleeper. But for a nice room on a budget you would struggle to do better than this. Recommended
Unsuitable for business travel
4.0I stayed here for business after it appeared as an option through our corporate booking system. I was not provided with the self-service booking in instructions so I had to phone to gain access - there is no reception and no staff on site. Having got in, it was sooo hot! There is little ventilation and not much insulation. It is in quite a noisy location and so propping open the door was a poor option because the door opens directly onto the outside world. The door opening directly onto a secluded space outside makes this accommodation unsuitable for lone female travellers. There are no facilities whatsoever and hardly anywhere nearby open at 7am to purchase breakfast. On a positive note, the bed was comfy. And it’s a short walk from the railway station.
All looked good but no ventilation
6.0Right place, clean, tidy, comfortable bed, plenty of coffee, tea etc BUT absolutely no ventilation at all, windows unopenable and bathroom fan not operating. Plug in fan supplied in the room was too noisy to use, so all in all a pretty uncomfortable experience. Sad to say we couldn't get out soon enough due to the extreme stuffiness in a relatively small room.
An unjust business, rude and disrespectful. Just after money
2.0I accidentally selected the wrong dates with crows hotel via booking.com, they charge full amount at time of booking, I realised afterwards and tried cancelling the booking, calling the hotel and explaining my mistake, and the operations manager there rudely and arrogantly dismissed my request, ignored my emails, and declined my refund. The operations manager ignored all my emails, and made it a point to only call me, and abuse me for threatening to review. Still didn’t prompt crows hotel to offer a partial refund though, which boggles the mind. I accepted my mistake and asked for a partial refund minus a cancellation fee, but he continued to insult my intelligence by saying it’s the consequences of my mistake. It was a sleazy money grab by crows hotel, this action was highly unreasonable and poor business practice. As a result, it put me off land caster all together, and I decided not to visit Lancaster at all, and nor will I ever. A disgrace to say the least and very dissappinting.
