Magnificant wide ranging views and lots of interesting walks

The villa has beautiful, with wide ranging views of the surrounding hills. It is perched up high on the side of a hill overlooking the valley. The house is very well equipped and unusually (in my experience) everything in the house worked as advertised. As we were there in early April an important aspect was that the house was warm. There were electric fan heaters (doubling as air conditioners in the summer), and there was also an open-fire. The owners supplied olive wood for burning, and the fire was easy to get going and kept us lovely and warm. The hot water system worked well, even in April. There was an electric heater to supplement the solar system when the sun did not shine. The villa is about 10 minutes to the nearest village. The road to get there is narrow in places but no problem at all to navigate, even in darkness (once you know the way). The villa is very quiet so ideal for those who want to get away from it all. Just the sound of the birds. The best aspect of the villa is that there is a lot to do within the local area. Palaiochora is a lovely town with lots of tavernas, and good beaches nearby (we liked best Krios beach and the walk to Viena beach). Our favorite place was Sougia, with the walks (through an excellent gouge) to Lissos which is an open air museum with ruined Roman town, and a magnificent bay for swimming and snorkeling. Walking the other way from Sougia you can get to Polyphemus cave (home of the Cyclops). Another memorable day out with dinner overlooking the sea at Sougia. One week was not enough. We will be back.

− I can't think of anything. Of course, the villa is not in a village so you do need to drive to get to tavernas or shops. This was not a problem at all for us though. We appreciated the sounds of nature.

The property is located on the western slope of the mountain with a beautiful view of the surrounding valley. Hot summers are not very noticeable, because there is always a weaker or stronger wind, this significantly reduces the nuisance of the heat. The house is located away from other properties, it is an excellent choice for those looking for peace and quiet. There are many attractions around and in addition, contact with the owners is exemplary and they will be happy to tell you more how to spend your time. I recommend.

A Wonderful Mountain Retreat - Cozy Comfort and Great Views

Our stay at the mountain villa was truly fantastic, providing us with a serene and peaceful escape in a charming village setting. The villa itself was exceptionally cozy, clean, and well-equipped, making it feel like a true home away from home. The stunning mountain views and breathtaking sunrises created a picturesque and unforgettable backdrop to our stay. The villa is located just a short 5-7 minute drive away from the village with good taverns and shops. Additionally, the nearest beach is easily accessible, being about 15-20 minutes away by car. The host was extremely friendly and attentive, adding a personal touch to our stay and making it even more special. Offered us valuable advice and useful information about local attractions, activities, and the best places to visit. This was undoubtedly the best place we've stayed at in Crete. We highly recommend this villa for a relaxing mountain getaway with exceptional hospitality.

Very comfortable and well equipped villa. Very quiet except last morning (noisy trucks). Lovely views.

− A few issues on arrival but quickly solved. Access road in a good condition but you wouldn't want to meet a truck coming in the opposite direction.
