Wonderful Service in a relaxing resort

The 5/5 comes mainly from the smiling staff and the service and because of them I don’t have the heart to rate the place any lower. Everything was served quickly and with a smile. Doors held open, endless patience and graciousness seem to be in every Sri Lankans DNA. So what of the hotel? Large rooms and bathrooms (almost too large), nice furniture and beautifully clean, the accommodation is first class. Outside there are 3 large pools that are well served with loungers and despite the place filling up during the week, there was never a shortage. The pool side bars are similarly well stocked with the same great service. Finally the food is good at all times with a great selection and the à la carte restaurants (Asian and Italian) are well worth a visit. The beach is beautiful, long and sandy but was red flagged for the length of our stay. Obviously not the hotel’s fault but I believe this can happen here. So, any issues? Remember it is a 5* hotel so some points. The shower fittings are not great, could really be a bit better. It is not particular to this hotel but a way of keeping the buffet food hotter would be nice. The evening entertainment was good but there are rows of seats in front of the stage instead of tables where families or groups could sit around which takes away from the atmosphere. This really needs changing. The quality of some of the cocktails is also not the best and criminally there are no marguerites available - a sin in my book. Overall is it a well laid out, relaxing and easy place to stay. The staff put service in the UK to shame, it is worth coming just for them.

Wonderful all inclusive family holiday

We had a wonderful all inclusive ten day holiday here. The food and facilities were excellent and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Haresha always cleaned our room to the utmost standard and Sadeepa, head of housekeeping, checked regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. Livera and Isuru in the restaurant were also very attentive. We would definitely come again 😊

Fabulous hotel in a tranquil location. Spotlessly clean. Food is fabulous, lots of choice. Staff are friendly. Sadeepa and Nanvidu kept our room immaculate and their towel art was outstanding. There are plenty of things to see and do outside of the hotel and it’s very safe to go out of the complex.

We have had 2 weeks wonderful stay at the RIU Sri Lanka. We wanted to just chill and see some of the sights and we opted for a 2 day Yala and Ella stay organised by Tony tours Sri Lanka who is based close to the hotel, we organised it whilst still in England and the price he quoted was everything no hidden extras. The hotel is lovey and the staff have to be the best I've ever come across all of them are amazing. In the restaurant Dinith and Sameera looked after us brilliantly and the greeter on the door Githmi always had a smile. There are 3 pools plus a kids pool with a slide and other bits. Always sun loungers available unless you want a specific one the adult pool gets snapped up quick. The main buffet restaurant really good food could have been a bit warmer was the only boggle with the whole holiday. We went to the steak restaurant but we preferred the buffet. The rooms were lovey we had booked a partial sea view but we were upgraded to see view on the 4th floor. The bed was huge lovely walk in shower with shower gel in a pump on the wall, it was a really nice one. Ample of storage and hangers. No light on the balcony as such it's just a ceiling light in the room by the patio door. The room attendants were brilliant leaving an animals made of towels daily on the bed. It is coffee mate for tea and coffee-but the bar will give you fresh milk to take to the room if you prefer. The sea is a red flag every day quite big waves but ok for a paddle some people went in but and there are sellers I'm not that confident in the sea. There are a few stalls entrance to the beach a polite no and they do you leave you alone. The weather has been a mixed bag it's very warm , mainly a bit of sun in the morning then cloudy for the afternoon but you still get burnt with no full sun. I was glad for the cloud the sun is so intense when full on. Rain on about 5 days just in the afternoon for a few hours. Lastly the rooms have 3 pin plugs like the uk but bring extension cable as only 2 sockets in the room.

I stayed in room 5059 and would like to that the cleaning team who came every day were fantastic and would like to especially mention Rangana the floor supervisor and Prabash for extra credit as they made are stay very special the room was immaculate
