Authentic ryokan
10.0Staying at Kawaguchi was a wonderful experience. The innkeeper lady was very helpful in explaining everything and pointing us to good restaurants and giving general directions around the town. The room was surprisingly large with additional space for two in the loft. Tea and cookies provided in the room. Kimonos to wear around were a nice touch. We enjoyed the ofuro (onsen bath).
Guest review
10.0Petit établissement. L'accueil est très agréable. La personne à cherché à faciliter notre séjour. La chambre spacieuse. Et dormir sur l'île est un privilège à la nuit tombée. Les environs sont très agréables.
Wonderful traditional Japanese inn.
10.0The innkeeper is very welcoming. She gave me a map with all the information to visit Mitajima. She takes care of you and your thing. A kimono and tea waiting for you in your room and it is very pleasant to rest in the bathroom of the hostel.
Traditional Japanese inn on a beautiful island
10.0Friendly owners and staff. This inn has been in the family for 300 years. Property is well maintained. This was one of our favorite places to stay in 3 weeks of traveling in Japan. I would highly recommend it.
Reservations are required for private bath/onsen. Reservations can be made by contacting the ryokan prior to arrival, using the contact information on the booking confirmation.
