4.0There is a great write up in the recent Lonely Planet Guide about Murray Guesthouse being a wonderful addition to the Chau Doc accommodation options... a great guest lounge, roof terrace, bar, pool table and great breakfast. Sadly no longer... none of these exists! Instead we had a poor welcome, accusing us of having cancelled, the bedside lights didn't work, our friend had no toilet paper or a toilet that flushed. It is very cheap to stay there and it is clean, but that is it.

2.0We booked and paid in advance, but when we arrived, they were not expecting us. They received us as if we were a nuisance. They finally found our reservation, but for one night instead of two nights (we had paid for two nights), they wanted to make us pay for the second night. They barely spoke English. They finally gave us a room that smelled really bad and had stains of insects of the sheets. We found another hotel for the second night and couldn’t get a refound from Expedia.

2.0Front desk guy was rude and unwelcoming. AC does not work well at all, no cold water, cockroach in room. However, no plastic bottles so that’s a good change. Can not recommend
