Good value , great location with a friendly bar area

The location as it’s right in the high street

The outside area at the rear of the hotel needs tidying up and refreshing, and the breakfast selection could be better some fresh bakery goods would have be nice and bigger bowls - cups.

There was an issue with the previously assigned room which was swiftly rectified - Thank You. The replacement room, No. 10, was spacious, airy and the bed was very comfortable. The Continental Breakfast was plentiful in bounty. There is also decent, well-away-from-the-main-road bike parking, which was essential. This is an ideal base for Wales, location-wise, with the Elan Valley just minutes away.

No following let the stay down: Black mould all over the bathroom ceiling Appallingly out-of-date fire extinguishers (1 actually just plonked under the breakfast table and one concealed in a boxed off arrangement) A grubby pint glass (with matter stuck to the inside) for my drink Differing prices for the same drink - £1:60 on the first two nights and £1:00 on my last. Further to this, previously, when I stayed here, the food was really good. After a LONG day in the saddle on the day of arrival, I settled down to what I believed was going to be a wonderfully prepared basket meal (as that's all that was being served). For £10:50, I also thought it would be freshly prepared in every respect. What I actually received was a tiny basket of very poor food quality. When I advised the bar person that it was 'not good' and that I had only managed one cheese wedge and about 3 chips, she just asked, "Do you want to pay for it now? Having already had to gripe about my initial room allocation, I discreetly advised that the meal was actually disgusting but this clearly fell on deaf ears and didn't raise any concerns or response whatsoever. I am unsure whether it has undergone new management or not since the last time I stayed, but disappointingly, the experience was not what I enjoyed on the previous two stays. As a Fire Extinguisher Technician in my day-to-day job, these are the first things that I look at wherever I stay. They are essential items of life-saving equipment and it is the Establishment/Management's responsibility to ensure that these are serviced annually and replaced when life expired. I am at a loss as to how out of date these extinguishers are for valid testing and that lives are being put at risk because of it. To cap off the stay was the reported "exceptional free wifi" that was pretty much non-existent - it was PANTS!! I had to use my own phone hotspot throughout my entire stay - UNSAT!!
