Location

− I was unable to speak to the reception on leaving the hotel Monday morning as he did not speak English and it was very early as we were catching the ferry.  The first 2 days there was pool service with a barman in attendance who not only served food and drinks but stopped boys kicking footballs all over the pool and deck. The remaining 2 days our 4 year old grandchild had to wait for them to leave the pool before getting in. You removed the pool service so we had to go down to the bar to order and carry drinks up. We were going to eat on the pool deck the last night as the world cup was on  but residents could not do this. We phoned to order room service and was told 'we are too busy you cannot have room service'. With a 4 year old we had to get a sandwich from a shop! I went to reception to complain , again told ''we are too busy with the public in the bar'.  Did you charge the public  over 300 euros a night to sit in your bar? We thoroughly enjoyed our first 2 days but was ruined by the pool attendance being removed and the rudeness of the staff on our last night. We travel a lot and have stayed in Pestana Hotels before and was confident in booking this. This hotel let us down and was a huge disappointment.

Location is good, its on the flat & easily within walking distance to Funchal main promenade & shopping area

− Its a themed hotel & the decor reflects that. The main stairs are very central, but a bit difficult to navigate. They can be a bit dazzling & gives a false sense or perception of depth
