10.0Loved the location with the most beautiful, tranquil surroundings. We were made to feel very welcome and the bedroom was large, very comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast each morning was exceptional.

− The room was very cluttered with to much stuff in it and the 1ste day breakfast was not good at all.
A truly mythical place indeed
9.0Exceptional location. Hoekwil is the best kept secret in SA and especially on the Garden Route. The hotel itself is laid out in an art deco style with exquisite pieces of art furniture and decor. The owner Tjaart was a magnificent host. A truly magical place and location.
− Some parts of the hotel feel as though it was designed for a different time. Despite extensive investments in satellite connectivity its was slow and intermittent and there wasn't a smart TV in the room the bath tub was inoperable due to water shortages. Using the aircon also proved a bit problematic and we did cause a power trip inadvertently in the middle of the night. But a fabulous stay nonetheless.
Shangri-la lives up to its name!
10.0The absolute serenity. The location in the valley between the hills and the trees. The atmosphere of the house and the surrounding gardens. The warm welcome.

6.0Magnificent location, swimming pool was spectacular, and very nice room layout.
− Confusing food options. Support from staff was inconsistent. Way too much decorations in the rooms that ended up feeling dusty. Lack of transparency with the final bill. Don’t like how the support staff were treated by the owners.
