Mardius - a GEM!
10.0There are certain hotels, like the Amandari in Ubud or the Riad Fes of Relais & Châteaux in Fez that embody the soul of a place so perfectly that one almost never wants to leave the hotel, regardless of how beautiful it is outside. These hotels stay with you long after you leave. Mardius Tarihi Konak is such a hotel. It is in a different league compared to any other hotel in the region. It is a gem. The standard of excellence in Mardius is set with nothing other than the owner's genuine desire to welcome you into their childhood home, and to host you like a guest would have been hosted in their home, some many years ago by their grandparents. This genuine desire is what sets Mardius apart from every other hotel we have ever stayed in. It is apparent in every aspect of the hotel, from the beautifully designed and appointed rooms, to the impeccable service provided by the ever attentive staff. Mardius is not just a hotel, it is an experience; utterly unique and authentic. Our room at Mardius was furnished with a locally made ornate wooden armoire, a writing desk, a sofa upholstered in a lush sateen and a King size comfortable bed. All lines, sheets and towels were from the Turkish luxury brand Haremlique. Outside on the terrace, we could lie on wooden beds with soft cushions, and watch the sun setting over the wide open plains of mesopotamia while sipping freshly brewed crimson turkish tea. Staff was always there, to assist us in whatever we needed in Mardin. Breakfasts were feasts; every item purchased directly from the local producers and served with bread baked on site fresh every morning. When you are there, definitely, ask to have dinner. It was, without doubt, the best food we have had in the region. Each and every dish was so delicious that writing about it now, my mouth waters. You must of course go to Mardin. But you must definitely go to Mardius. You will not want to leave it. And when you leave, you would want to go back.
True boutique hotel , food is delicious, location ideal and staff service was extremely friendly
10.0A Timeless Gem in the Heart of Mardin: My Enchanting Stay at Mardius Tarihi Konak Nestled in the labyrinthine streets of Mardin’s historic old town, Mardius Tarihi Konak isn’t just a hotel—it’s a living portal to the soul of Mesopotamia. Housed in a meticulously restored 19th-century stone mansion (with roots tracing back even further to the 16th century), this boutique haven blends authentic Ottoman architecture with subtle modern luxuries, creating an atmosphere that’s equal parts museum and sanctuary. From the moment you step through the arched wooden doors into the tranquil courtyard, where sunlight filters through ancient grapevines onto honey-hued basalt walls, you feel the weight of centuries whispering tales of silk traders, Sufi poets, and resilient families who once called this place home. Our recent stay escaping the autumn bustle for a long weekend—was nothing short of magical. The location is unbeatable: mere steps from the iconic Mardin Ulu Camii and the steamy echoes of the Grand Turkish Bath, yet tucked away enough to offer a serene retreat from the day’s explorations. Wandering Mardin’s UNESCO-worthy alleys by day felt effortless, with Zinciriye Medresesi and the bustling bazaar just a short stroll away. And after sunset, returning to the konak’s terrace for panoramic views of the Mesopotamian plain bathed in golden light? Pure poetry. The rooms are a highlight, each one a cozy cocoon of tradition and comfort. But it’s the people who elevate Mardius from excellent to unforgettable. The family-owned vibe shines through in every interaction—the owner personally greeted us with stories of the konak’s restoration, turning check-in into a captivating history lesson. Staff were ever-attentive and went above and beyond. Service here feels like hospitality at its most genuine—warm, intuitive. Dining deserves its own paragraph. The on-site restaurant serves up Mesopotamian masterpieces that are as flavorful as they are photogenic.
Sweeping views over the Mesothelioma Plains
10.0Stunning property! Absolutely felt like you were staying in a castle/villa. We stayed 3 nights and we were the only guests. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. They actually served the best cup of coffee with milk! The views from the different decks over the Mesothelioma plains were spectacular! The details in this hotel are absolutely luxurious! The communication before arrival, then through out the stay was so wonderful! Thank you Mr. Mahmut Korhan for taking care of all the details. Chocolate Lady and her husband loved staying here and we highly recommend this property!
− Just be warned you are staying in the old part of Mardin and the steps you need to climb are steep! Steps literally are everywhere you go in old Mardin. If you have any problems with walking or your knees you do not want to stay in any part of old Mardin. I just want travelers to know this.

10.0El lugar es único en términos de historia, vista y comida regional. Es una casa marivillosa. El reto es que hay que estar en buena condición física para subir a la calle principal.
