2.0Ive stayed here many times, although its mainly used as social housing ive not had any major problems before. However, my last visit will be my last. Due to someone smoking in a room the fire alarm went off twice which was annoying after a long day at work. On the second occasion, myself and other guests obviously went downstairs during the fire alarm. The man on reception, who spoke no English was obviously angrt with whoever was smoking. I was stood next to a door and he slammed the door at me causing an injury to my foot. No apology or even acknowledgement that anything happened. The other guests were appalled at what happened. If you stay here you will be treated like a social housing resident rather than a paying guest. There are better places to stay, i suggest the village inn, murton which is a 10 minute drive from here or head to durham city centre.

6.0It is clean but basic, however lashings of hot water and lovely and warm. If you're expecting luxury, this isn't the place for you, however, if you want an honest, cheap, clean and warm place to rest your head for the night, then this is okay for just that.
