Lovely friendly country pub and hotel.
9.0Fantastic stay, we stayed for a wedding nearby but stopped an additional night the day before as we were travelling far. We had dinner in the pub, lovely countryside home cooked meals. Plenty of choice. It seems there is often something going on, there was a jazz band playing the first night and I believe a quiz the next. Breakfast both days was superb. Initially it looked like it was only a full English or a fish dish as cooked breakfasts but you can ask for adaptations of this. The scrambled egg and the bread and preserves made on site are very tasty. Staff are really friendly, the bar was busy when we checked in as we arrived around 7, but it’s nice to see a friendly, busy pub and we were able to get some drinks and sit in the sunny beer garden before having some food. If you are having food here, sometimes the kitchen closes at 7.30 so it’s worth checking and booking with the pub. I’d also recommend pre-booking a taxi especially if you are going to a wedding or event. We can’t wait to return with our dog and enjoy the lovely walks nearby!

8.0Staff were very welcoming and accommodating throughout my stay. All food was simply exquisite - beautiful flavourings, really good choice and portion sizes! The hotel was quirky due to it's age which I loved. The location of the hotel was great, outdoor seating, gardens, and with walking opportunities close by. Very quiet location. Plenty of parking. Locals were also very friendly. As a female lone traveller, I felt completely safe throughout my stay.
− The mattress was a little 'past its best' - lots of springs felt - however this did not affect my sleep. The shower took a while to 'warm up' - temperature/power was great to start with, but then it suddenly lost pressure and went freezing cold mid-shower, which you can imagine was a shock to my system! However, this did not put me off using the shower, and on other uses it was fine.
