A simple accommodation in a beautiful landscape with knowledgeable and helpful hosts
8.0David and Meli helped us plan our stay in Yanque (2 full days). They are very knowledgeable and gave tips and ideas. They were helpful organising guides, taxis, etc. David joined us for the wonderful hike to Fortaleza de Chimpa (1 hour by taxi, 200 Soles), a beautiful place to visit if you are fit enough to hike up a mountain in high altitude (~1,5 hours up, ~200m rise, well marked trail, you don't need a guide, gorgeous views, condors, sticks recommended). Yanque is very quiet, authentic and has a wonderful landscape. We made 3 beautiful hikes, went horse riding and ziplining. There are also thermal baths. Chivay is more lively, there are many more tourist shops and restaurants, but Yanque feels less touristy and more off the beaten track, with many local restaurants where you can enjoy a cheap and simple but tasty Peruvian menu and little shops where you can buy fruit, veggies, drinks, snacks and alpaca yoghurt The house has a lovely garden which you can enjoy when the sun shines in the afternoon.
− The breakfast was very simple (bread, butter, jelly, coffee/tea and juice). We were allowed to buy and cook eggs and make some hot chocolate for our kids, after we asked for it. In this cold climate it would have been nice to have access to hot water for tea without asking for it every time, as we had in other places. But when we asked, we got boiling water for our bed bottles in the evening (bring your own! It's cold up there! We bought them in Arequipa) The beautiful living room was not always open, which was a pity. Yanque is not very nice in the evening, as it's very cold and there's not much to do. The rooms only have a bed and closets, no table to sit at or play a game and no heating. The living room would be suitable for that, but was not always accessible. If it would be accessible all day and if there would be tea water and maybe even a heater or candles, it would be more enjoyable!

A lovely, quaint, quiet place. The owner was kind and helpful.
