Traditional Japanese House - Nice Experience
8.0Good reception of Household Nice View Free Parking
Good authentic ancient Japan ambience
6.0We had a great stay at the house! Obaa-san was very nice and humble, she was very helpful to help us call the taxis to pick us up. The house is located 10-15 minutes walk from Hiezansakamoto station and the best part is, it is just a few steps away from Lake Biwa! You could see sunrise if the weather is great! Plus points: the house is very well-kept and clean. It has the old-style ambience. There is a large bonzai tree infront of Biwako house. Taking a taxi from the nearest Hieizansakamoto station was also very cheap! (The meter did not even increase!) Haha. It shows the house is very near. Meter started at 530 Yen. There is an old-school shared kitchen at the back of Biwako House 2, so you can reheat your packed food or even cook. Cons: The toilet is an old fashioned one. No bidet available, which we think is a discomfort. Maybe the owner wants to maintain the very traditional ambience. There are four rooms inside the house, two of which had no aircond. It is summer, it could get very hot. Lucky enough for us, the wind was blowing at night so we opened the window (there was a net, so no mosquitoes could come in). And yeah, we could hear the sound of crickets and the Gingko insects. If you want to experience traditional ambience, come and stay here!
Children 5 years old and younger stay free when occupying the parent or guardian's room, using existing bedding.
