A nice holiday

BUTLER My Butler was Christian, and honestly I can not praise him enough, he was just amazing. Nothing was too much trouble, he was in touch every day to check on me and see if I needed anything at all, and to make all of my restaurant reservations. He managed to get every single one I wanted at the times that suited me best. The hairdryer in my room cut out a few times at the socket, and he quickly got it fixed both times. I kept forgetting to ask about the beach bag however on my 2nd last day I asked him if it would be possible still to get one - Say no more. The next morning it was in my room! On the day I checked out (15th december) my transfer pick up arrived 25 minutes early and so in a panic, I got on and it wasn't until I had passed through security at the airport I realised I had left a hoodie and cardigan in the lobby at the hotel's main reception. Long story short, Christian was more than happy to help and even a week after I got home, he was still helping with this for me to get the items back to me in the UK. He is an absolute diamond, and a huge credit to this hotel. Thank you so much Christian! 💎 HOLIDAY As for the rest of the holiday and hotel - I booked this hotel for 14 nights, and 2 friends of mine joined me for the first 7 nights. We booked into the hideaway and myself in a diamond club swim up room (room 2117).  I did pay to select this room, and my friends had also paid for their room selection but they were not given theirs and were issued a refund, which although paid on card they were refused this to be refunded by card and after 6 days of their 7 day holiday were given the refund in cash, in USD which wasn't much use when we're from the UK and were given this just before they left to go home lol...? That said, the hotel grounds are stunning, very well kept and there are always staff around cleaning and busy helping to keep the place looking it's best. Afew missing tiles in the pool areas etc but this is not a big issue for me and will surely be fixed. The bar staff at the hideaway pool bar - Juan, and I'm so sorry I forget the name of the lady bar staff, were brilliant. They work so hard, long hours in the heat and always with a smile and remember what you like to drink, regularly doing rounds of the pool and bringing them to you at your lounger. I did tip each time and they are always gratefully received. I highly recommend the Strawberry Daquaris and Miami Vice - amazing! (Bring your own flask it will stay frozen and not melt in the heat!) Restaurants - Buffet was absolutely fine, always something, some days had better variety than others but that is personal taste and a hotel needs to cater for so many different tastes and nationalities. The pasta station is great and you can select what ingredients and sauce you want. I was here 14 days and only 1 day found no bacon at breakfast but I may have gone at the wrong time (I see people saying there's never any bacon, that's not correct at all) El dorado is also lovely for breakfast, the breakfast bagel with hash browns was lovely. My biggest gripe at this hotel is only that service and restaurants can be very inconsistent. Some days outstanding and other days you struggle to get anyone to even notice you if you need anything. Quite strange, as when it's good it's amazing, but quite frustrating when it's not so good. Bring salt sachets if you like to season your food, most of the pots here don't work or are empty. The beach, a small section of the beach had sand bags visible yes but honestly this is no issue for me, seems like a bit of a petty thing to be hung up on, there are miles and miles of stunning beach and it's a lovely walk both ways. Gorgeous sunrises too at around 7am. The gym I visited a few times at around 6.15am and could always get a treadmill. I didn't use the other equipment this time but it all looked great and one of the best hotel gyms I've seen with decent air con. I usually took a small towel from my room but there are plenty available in the gym too to pick up on your way in. Entertainment team do work hard day and night and it's usually pretty good. They put alot of effort into the stage area and lighting in the theatre. When I was there, the right side of the theatre was cooler, as the ceiling fan on the left wasn't working, so if you're looking for a breeze sit in the middle or right side of the room (unless it's working again now!) Snack van was decent, nice burgers and fries, I didn't try the hot dogs but they looked good too. I did find service at the Sands beach bar (next to the snack van) very slow. Bar staff would walk past without acknowledging you, and then serve someone else who had only just arrived, very frustrating and I actually left once without even managing to get a drink. There are trollies from lobby ground floor around every 15 minutes to take people down to Splash, however it only takes about 5/10 to walk so sometimes it's quicker, and it is a lovely walk. You'll also pass by small little ponds where you can find little turtles  and also some really pretty ducks and birds. It is lit at night with lamps so still fine to walk on an evening too. We did do the escape room one night at around 9pm, the guy on the desk looked like he was about to close as nobody else was booked in, but we managed to get in. It genuinely would have been pretty good, if we weren't given the answers or dropped clues or keys only a few minutes in to each room. We were certainly not taking a long time, and we got the very distinct feeling the guy just wanted to finish his shift and rush us through. So that was disappointing unfortunately. Try and go earlier in the day and it may be a better experience. Overall I did enjoy my stay here. There are definitely things that can be improved, like most hotels. I must say again though that Christian was a real diamond, and I can't thank him enough for his service! Thank you Christian! (Will be loading more pictures soon when I have spare time...)

Best Christmas at Royalton Punta Cana

10.0

This is our fourth time staying at a Royalton property and our first Hideaway experience and it did not disappoint! From the time of our arrival we were greeted with a refreshing welcome drink and taken to our Diamond Club lounge. Pro tip when you upgrade to Diamond you get your own Personal Assistant for the stay who takes care of everything and anything you need. We had Denis as ours and he was the best one we have ever had! The best combination of attentive but not overbearing. He took care of everything and went over and above making our week super special. We ate at Dorado, Grazie, Zen, Mexican Cantina as well as the main buffet and lunched mainly by the beach and pool. The Christmas Eve feast at the buffet was spectacular, Denis made that recommendation and the food was fantastic every kind of protein imaginable and the dessert spread was out of this world! I was worried spending Christmas away would feel odd but everyone was so festive including the other guests and made it so special! Special shout out to our Dips bartender Wenslie who took care of us every day at the main pool. 10 out of 10 experience, we will be back!!!! Thank you again to Denis and the whole Royalton team!

Unforgettable Family Christmas Vacation

8.0

Our group of 12 adults (18-57) stayed at the Royalton Hideaway during Christmas week, and while the resort had its ups and downs, our butler Denis was the absolute standout. Being part of the Diamond Club was worth it just for him. Managing a party of our size during the holidays is a challenge, but Denis worked his magic to get us every reservation we asked for, even when we changed plans at the last minute. He also made my nephew’s 21st birthday so special with room decorations and a cake. The dining was a bit of a mixed bag. Jade was our favorite by far; the food was excellent and Alejandro was a fantastic server who kept the energy high and our drinks full. We also loved our final night at Hunter Steakhouse sitting outside, and the beach BBQ was very tasty. On the other hand, Dorado was a letdown with poor service and missing side dishes, and Grazie was just okay. The buffet is decent, but you really have to get there early for breakfast if you want hot food. One word of advice: don't rely on room service. We waited over an hour for an order of five items and only a single sandwich ever showed up. The resort itself is a great size and very walkable. We spent a lot of time at the adult-only pool, which is perfectly sheltered from the wind and sand. JP Papi made the daily activities a blast, though I wish the music wasn't so constantly loud. It’s hard to have a conversation when you have to yell over the speakers. We also noticed a bit more of a language barrier here than at other nearby resorts like Dreams Onyx. The rooms could definitely use some updating, but they were kept clean by our lovely housekeeper, Estrela, and maintenance was very quick to fix a few issues we had at the start. My biggest frustration, which seems to be a trend at all-inclusive resorts lately, is the constant need for cash tips. It takes away from the "all-inclusive" feel when you have to carry bills for every single interaction. That said, the staff like Denis and Alejandro truly made our Christmas one to remember.

Thank you Dennis

We had a great time on our family Christmas trip here. Denis did an amazing job making our trip more special. He was able to take care of things like dinner reservations so we didn’t have to think about it while on vacation. Juan the bartender at the Hideaway was also great and always had a smile on his face.
