A very nice facility in a convenient location.
9.0I did not eat breakfast at the hotel. I liked the location, the ease of ingress and egress, my very spacious king suite as well as the bathroom. The bed was acceptable in terms of firmness but it could be better.
− The mattress in the my king suite was OK but I would have preferred a mattress that provided more support for my back. More firmness. Also, I was surprised at the limited number of TV channels. For example, one of the channels WAS CNBC [financial news] but Fox Business and Bloomberg were not options. At a much less elegant facility in Monterey [The Red Lion Hotel] I had many more options including both of the ones mentioned above.
We had a great stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Buellton. Its updated, clean, quiet, friendly staff. They have a

Great place and stay nearly ruined by one bad customer service experience.
9.0Great room and facilities. Surprised me. Nice customer service initially (at check in and in the morning when we asked for late check in and how to do laundry, the gentleman at the desk gave us an hour and explained that was the max he could give and walked me to the laundry room after I got lost.
− Loud group in the surrounding rooms made a lot of noise. Not the hotel's fault, but did affect our stay. Breakfast didn't have healthy options at all, which would make a big difference, but was fine for the standard chain hotel breakfasts. The manager (not the person who checked us in or who helped with laundry in the morning) was really unprofessional. She eventually apologized, but even then did it in an unprofessional way, blaming the morning manager, calling him incompetent, saying he should never have given us late check in on a Saturday (after first questioning whether it really happened and then still trying to charge me $40 for it until I argued against it). I wouldn't put it here, but she sounded like she would try to get him fired even though she was the only unprofessional experience we had.
